Library, Thursday, 8/24

For old time's sake, Angela has found one of the signs from last year that tells students to turn in their books before the semester ends or get malleted and hung it on the door. She hasn't thought of what to do if someone really wants to be malleted; hunt down Zero, she supposes.

It also occurs to her that the new librarian, whoever it is, will probably want to use their office as more than a holding cell for junk mail and dust bunnies, so she's slowly, slowly cleaning up in there when she can't find anything better to do, like staring into space or trying to plan out her weekend. It's a little amazing how much fur there still is back there.

Anakin nodded with a shy smile. "Most of the notes I took in class were in Basic because it was easier on me, but everything was turned in in English." He pressed his lips together. "And yeah, Obi-Wan thinks of almost everything."

"I wonder if there's a book in here on writing Basic," Angela said, glancing around the library.

She bit her lip. "Is it weird to be this close to going home?"

"I'd be more surprised if there wasn't," Anakin said. "Rory picked up a little if you want to ask her about it."

He scuffed his boots against the floor. "And yes. It's very, very weird."

"I'll talk to her," Angela promised. "You'll visit, right?"

Wow, that floor was fascinating.

Anakin slowly shook his head. "Unless something changes drastically at home. We just don't have the resources to keep sending me back here if it's not for school."

That was bad.

Whatever Anakin was staring at on the floor, it was earning Angela's atttention too. "Oh," she said, and was too embarassed to go further.

Anakin ran a hand through his hair. "So. Um. Thanks for showing me where to find the book," he said.

"It's my job," Angela said. "For another couple hours, anyhow. I want to meet the new librarian before I decide..." her voice trailed off, and she shrugged. "Rory or I would let you in if you need anything else."

"Thanks," Anakin said, giving her a small smile. "Give me a few minutes and I'll be out of your hair."

Angela nodded silently and returned to her desk, leaving Anakin alone with the book.

Anakin flipped through the pages, jotting down several sonnets before putting the book back where Angela had found it.

With a small wave, he walked out of the library, heading back towards the dorms.
