Stealth and Deception #6, Wednesday Morning, Danger Shop

As the class entered the saw Alfred standing behind a table in a large, column filled room. "Good morning class. Grab some breakfast and sit down, today is a long lecture day. I doubt we'll do anything practical."

"Now we've talked an awful lot about both stealth and deception, but there's one key element that we haven't discussed, one that I considered adding to my class title it was so important. It's one thing to get your way through a situation by lying, by decieving the searcher into thinking he's seeing something else. It's another to hide out of his vision, to make him never know that you are there.

"And it's quite another thing, though, if you do not have to employ any of these tricks," Alfred started to say before he suddenly and without explantation shimmered and disappeared.

"Because you have your searcher's attention focused somewhere else entirely," a voice said behind them. Aflred stood there with a remote. "I'm talking about distraction. The art of getting your enemy to look somewhere else entirely. Unfortunately," he continued, throwing the remote onto the table and walking around to the other side. "I have no particular techniques to demonstrate to you today. Becuase in this, there is not particular technique that works for every situation. More often than not it is merely the act of seeing an opportunity and grabbing it. Throwing a rock or a coin to imitate the sound of footsteps, rigging a disaster that requires the guards to all come running, making a feint, splitting your forces, and of course, the ever popular "blow up something important". These are all methods of getting your opponent, our paranoia created "constant searcher" to look somewhere else than where you are."

He walked over to the control console, pulled some glasses out of his pocket, and consulted a piece of paper. "Alright... this may take a while class, and for that I'm... no, wait! I've got it."

The scene shimmered and the students found themselves standing outside what appeared to be a small building.

"In this compound are secret documents," Alfred said, "vital to the well-being of the world. They are also, however, guarded round-the-clock by armed guards. The inside is filled with metal corridors, important machines, and all sorts of fun things which can be used for distraction. Including," he said looking over his glasses, "a small cache of explosives. So, what I want you all to do is dazzle me with your creativity. You're all a very bright and smart group, and today I am expecting to walk away from this room thinking "My heavens, I had never thought of that before. If only I had, that job in Mozambique would have gone so much easier. So go on, get into pairs and start dazzling me. I will provide any tools you want save those which could potentially be used as weapons. We're looking to get the enemy looking the other way."

Jude used Setsuna's own attack to find the highest place he could, dashing up a flight of stairs that led to a catwalk. He paused to admire his girlfriend before shouting, "Dudes! I'm in your base! I'm killing ur mans! stealing your shit!" and with, a crow, grinding down the entire flight of stairs, knocking over the two guards who had begun to run up after him, sailing over the head of a third at the bottom, and proceeded to zoom loop-de-loops around the rest, grinning in triumph at the satisfying 'clonk!' of thick skulls bashing together as guards dashed in all directions to get where he had been a moment before.

Sakurazaki also perched somewhere high while Jude's second bout of chaos ensued. Yup. They definately weren't earning any stealth points here, but they were getting the job done. When it came to brass tax, that's what mattered. She waited for the right opprotunity for her second distraction, swooped down, did her thing and then returned to her perch as the chaos peaked. She looked for Jude to give him the signal for them both to attack. So to speak, since there wouldn't be any actually attacking.

Jude was having a lot of fun with this. A couple of guards might have ended up with skidmarks across their backs. He was pretty sure he had made the one in the corner so dizzy he couldn't stand any more.

He zoomed right for one of the bigger, slower moving guards without slowing down, dropping to his stomach on the board at the last second and zipping through his legs. With a triumphant grin, he looked up at Setsuna to see if that was enough.

When he looked up, Jude wouldn't have seen Sakurazaki, but his answer would come a second later as she swooped past him, documents in hand and a grin on her face. She figured she might as well take the chance to get them while he was getting carried away. She landed softly on her feet, handed the documents to him.

"They might send more after us," she said, very dramaticly. "We can't come in the way we came; we're gonna have to leave by air." She grinned again. "Wanna go for a flight?" And then considering that, after all that and the night before, his stomach could not be happy with him. "Just until we get out of the fake building, of course."

Jude wasn't even thinking about his stomach. Which was probably a very bad idea, considering how very unhappy it was going to be with him as soon as he stopped moving. So he grinned at her and replied, "Dude! Sweet!"

Even if a part of her thought the better of it, Sakurazaki just couldn't refuse that enthusiasm. "Okay," she said, and then considered the problem of how to carry him. She worried about somehow emasculating him by just picking him up and carrying him in her arms, so she quickly set back to flight with a little bounce, and swooped in from behind to lock her arms underneath his. Not that she could really imagine Jude feeling terribly emasculated, but it would just be safer to go with the dangling method, just in case.

And they were soon on their way out of the fake building and back to the ground. "We did pretty well, huh?" She grinned, making a bit of idle chat. She was flying pretty slowly, with consideration.

Jude's worn a wig and had his guy friends practice dating on him. He has nothing left to emasculate. And flying whee!

"I don't know how many ninja points we're gonna get for that, but . . ." Jude trailed off and suddenly blanched. "Bra, I'm gonna hurl . . ."

Sakurazaki should have expected that. Her eyes were wide for a moment. "Okay, jus...hold on a second, if...if you can." And she went about searching for a bucket, a wastebin, a mixing bowl, anything, hoping she can locate one and return before Jude threw up all over the world-saving documents.
