The Kludge's Guide to the Universe | Dangershop, Wednesday Afternoon (Week 6)
Harper tapped a control and the virtual workshop expanded in size.
"Now, when you're a mechanical genius like myself," he said without any trace of false modesty. "You'll often be asked to create physics defying contraptions on the fly. Often with parts that are, well, junk. Turning trash into treasure is perhaps your most valuable survival skill. Your job today is to take the parts in this room and create something that might help you survive. No weapons."

Present Your Gadget (Kludge - Wk6)
Re: Present Your Gadget (Kludge - Wk6)
John cuts two holes in two thin pieces of wood and, in between those pieces of wood, he shoves the flat end of a balloon.
"It's a in a pinch voice changer," John explains. He demonstrates by bringing the balloon up to his mouth, blowing up the balloon a bit and sucking all the blown up air back into his mouth.
"See?" His voice is high pitched and squeaky. "In case any authorities come banging on your door and are looking for voice recognition."

You invent whatever tail you can about the wonders of the device. Your captors get confused, some might even know it can't do that, but as they start bickering, you have time to sneak away and escape."

"It's a lock picking device disguised as a necklace," she said. "The stiff wires can be used on regular door locks and the long wires can be used to bypass electronic thingies or short circuit stuff."
