Rory hurried into the library bright and early, and settled herself behind the desk with her laptop.

She spent a little time looking up sonnets, since it had been awhile since she'd read her favorites anyway, then left that open in a tab.

If anyone came along, you see, she could switch to it quickly from the Wendy the Werewolf Stalker fic she was reading.

"I didn't really have the opportunity," he explained. "And my superiors weren't exactly big on making sure we were widely read."

"...this needs to be fixed," Rory said, wide-eyed. "You need to read things."

She blushed. "Um, unless you're here to help with the Dean stuff, in which case my lecture on why you need to know the classics can be saved for another day."

"I wouldn't mind getting your reccomendations," Alec said, smiling and motioning to Dawn and Sam in what seemed to be their element. "I'm not exactly the researching type."

Rory bit her lip and started scribbling down some titles (http://chilton.smithereen.net/rorylist.html) or their meta versions. "You'd probably like anything from the Beat generation. Kerouac, Ginsberg...they're all about just doing whatever seems like a good idea and going with it."

"Yeah, that sounds about my speed," Alec agreed, watching her write and glad for the distraction.

"Do you guys know anything about what's going on with Dean?" Rory asked, glancing up. "Dawn was kind of vague."

He shrugged, frowning faintly. "No idea. That's why we're here though, to look for a clue."

"I told Dawn you guys need a note for SC," Rory said quietly. "So if you need to, just find a sympathetic or gullible teacher and tell them you're doing research and I'll take you all back there."

The frown melted into a sincere smile and he nodded. "Thanks Rory. I appreciate that." He glanced at the research kids again. "I'll let you know if it's necessary."

"I mean, there's always the chance that a genie will give us manicures, but there are classified materials for researching back there, too."

Alec blinked. "Okay. I don't think that'd actually help us get Dean back though."

"No, it just happens. There's a dragon that lives back there, too," Rory explained. "But like I said, all the dangerous books are there."

"Okay," Alec said, deciding it was Fandom and it was just easier to agree at this point. "None of these are going to eat me or paint my nails though, right?" He indicated the list Rory had written.

"Nope," she said, handing the list over. "They're all available over there in the stacks by author's last name. Totally safe."

"Cool, and thanks again." He looked the list over and grinned at Rory happily. "This should keep me busy for a while anyway."
