How to Win Friends and yadda yadda yadda [8/15]

Cox belts out a sharp peircing whistled and points for everyone to sit down in their seats. When everyone is at least pretending to pay attention, Cox begins his rant lecture.

"If you're like me? Chances are people are going to annoy you with their pesky personal problems that will distract you from your main goal in life. In order to deal with this issue you must learn to look like you care when really you don't.

Method One: Feign interest.
"Gosh Newbie. I never realized how wonderfully boring your life could be. Please tell me in excruiating detail about how your stuffed dog smells like pancakes."

Method Two: Barely acknowledge their existence
*grunt*

Method Three: Find a polite way to get out of the conversation while still making said person think you care about their feelings
"Go away Newbie."

Please pair up with another classmate. One of you will whine and emo about your life and the other will use all three methods outlined for you. Then switch."

Peter smiled at Ranma. "I'm doing very well. And same here. I would have wondered if you'd gone home except that I hear of you on the radio. How are you?"

"Hah. I'm doing fine. Yeah." That's a lie. "You and Setsuna got all the sword stuff done right? That's pretty exciting." He shares a friendly smile. He's really not good at this class...

Peter chuckled. "I'm not sure either of us will ever be done with the 'sword stuff,' but we have a salle set up which keeps me busy at least. What have you been doing? Are you staying through to next term?"

He nodded. Nowhere else to go if he wanted to leave anyway. "Yeah I'm staying. You are too right?"

"To the best of my knowledge, I shall be here," Peter replied with a nod. "I went home during part of July, and I think everything there is taken care of for now."

"Hope it stays that way... I think Setsuna would miss you and your sword obsessions probably. She'd have no one to talk to it aobut. I mean... because I don't know many people who know a lot about them other than you two." Wow. Talk about Setsuna much... Yeah. Well if Peter's "obsessed" with swords we know who Ranma's obsessed with..

Peter did, in fact, pick up on that and began wondering if this was the cause of Sakurazaki's discontent the past few days. He kept his face completely neutral. "I would miss her as well. And all of the people here."

Ranma is always the cause of her problems. Or at least 90 percent of the time. "Well then I'm glad you can stay."

"Me too," Peter agreed. "So what then have you been up to during all the times I've not seen you around?"

Ranma laughs. "Nothing. I feel so lazy lately. And anyways I just don't like crowds much so I don't go to a lot of things."

"Boarding school is definitely the place for you if you're not a fan of crowds," Peter observed with a smile.

"Well I like it here. The people aren't bad. I'm just uncomfortable when it's a big group and all."
