Wilderness Survival Redux - Week 5 | Thursday Morning, A Clearing in the Woods

Callisto looked distracted as she addressed the class. "Clothes and shoes. And we're doing today's class in the water, so if you want to wear your clothes the entire class, be my guest."

Once she'd collected clothing from those willing to give it up, she gestured to a set of spears and hand woven nets. "Last week we looked at hunting land animals, this week is fish, so take either a net or a spear, then follow me."

Callisto led the class though the preserve down to the beach, then into the water. Where she proceeded to give a lecture on basic fishing techniques.

"Now spend the rest of the class trying out spear, net and bare hand techniques, but those of you with spears, please be careful of your fellow students, as we don't want to have any accidents that might attract sharks."

"Anything you catch, you're expected to clean and cook yourself."

Callisto's distracted so no-one gets their shoes or clothes back. Whoops.

I don't want to break the damp Cal icon streak I've got going here.

Anders signed in and surrendered his worn-out t-shirt and grubby jeans, having finally had the forethought to show up at class barefoot.

"This can't be that hard, can it?" Anders muttered to himself as he opted for neither the spear nor the net, waded a little further into the water, and started groping around blindly ~~not dirty~~ beneath the surface. "I mean, all you gotta do is stick your hand underneath the water and feel around until you find a great big succulent fish, right? And then you wiggle your fingers so it looks like bait, and whammo!"

It's not that I was watching "Fins, Femmes, and Gems" last night or anything, noooooooo.

Of course not. *believes*

Tyler signed in. He hadned over his t-shirt and sneakers but kept on his shorts.

Dean groaned but gave up his clothes. Because really he should've expected this considering the way his week had been going.

He kept the shades though because OMG bright. This morning they were the bare minimum he needed to be able to function outside.

Bridge shows up barefoot and wearing his scuba gloves. He hands over his clothes (old SPD sweats), glad that Callisto had warned him in advance about the topic of today's class.

Tyler took a net and managed to cast it into the water on his fourth try. Now he just needed to catch something...

Peter showed up grinning and couldn't manage to be bothered even by giving up his shirt. He'd shown up barefoot as usual.

Peter grinned at Anders from the bank. "Works better if you stick to the shallows usually."

Walter was barefoot as usual, in his usual attire as well, alas, so he handed over his clothes and stuck with the pirate boxers.

Sam handed over a cheap pair of flip-flops and stripped down to her sports bra and old USAF running shorts, handing her shirt to Callisto.

Sam, who had no desire whatsoever to catch and clean her own fish, decided to try casting her net. Somewhere around try number five, she stopped catching herself in it. "Progress!"

Anders gave him a conspiratorial wink from where he was wading in water about halfway up his chest, and not particularly bothering to hide the fact that he was mostly just having fun. "Don't worry. I'll figure that out once I'm done, ah, testing out the deeper water."

I had absolutely no reason whatsoever to be marathoning all the season 3 comedies last night. *shifty*
