Walter had a big bite of pizza and nodded while he chewed, finally saying, "You do that."

He flipped his book closed and put it on top of the stack. "Do you know anything about those springy things in the dorm? Pup's going to go crazy trying to figure out how to impale the one that got into our room.

"They're called 'Slinkys'. They're toys, but I only ever seen 'em walk down stairs, not up 'em!"

Just then, a Slinky slinked its way into the cafiteria.

Walter looked up at the telltale sheeng sheeng sound. "A slinky, huh? It reminds me of the muppet chickens that just appeared out of nowhere."

"Yeah, it's strange huh." Pippi said as the slinky seemed to "look" around the room and then started slinking in their direction.

Walter eyed the slinky, but coiled wire? Sort of his thing.

"And they're toys? So I shouldn't be expecting that this one is going to try to garrote me, right?"

"No, they're made for kids so they're actually not really sharp at all."

The slinky has made its way over to where Pippi is sitting and is bumping against her leg, not unlike a cat.

Walter leaned over to watch the slinky and frowned in puzzlement. "It seems to want your attention."

Pippi smiled down at the slinky... It really liked her... Had it imprinted somehow while they set them up?

"Hi little fella."

The slinky tried to slink up onto her lap.

"You have a new friend," Walter observed, laughing a little. Then he remembered the new digital camera he'd picked up and pulled it out of his pocket. "Let's have a picture of that."

Pippi picked up the slinky and held it up.

"Slinky!"

*Shiing shiing*

Walter held up his camera, more than a little impressed by the little picture on the back, and snapped off a few pictures.

"This thing? Is brilliant. I wish we had them at home. I'll just have to wait sixty years, I suppose."

"Where'd ya get it?"

"All and Sundries. This new woman, Jane, is working there. I didn't see Mr. Blackadder at all."

"I'm sure he prefers it that way." she grinned.

"The feeling is mutual," Walter said with a wry twist of his lips. "If his weren't the only store in town, I wouldn't go there at all. But now I can just go on days when he isn't around and spare myself the bother with him."

"So this Jane lady more pleasant to deal with then Mr. Blackadder?"

"She's a character," Walter said, choosing his words carefully. "She didn't know she was coming here, and she's a hundred thirty years out of time. But she's not a bad person from what I've seen."

Just had a mouth on her.

"Well it's good do have more 'not bad people'." Pippi said.

"Definitely. I think you'll like Jane when you meet her." Not that there were very many people Pippi seemed to not like.

"I'll have to keep my eye out for her." she said nodding.

"So what prompted this extravagant purchase?"

Walter shrugged and turned the camera over to fiddle with its settings. "I don't spend a lot of money on myself, and I wanted another camera. So I read online about cameras and this one was highly recommended."

"That's as good a reason as any." Pippi nodded.
