The Kludge's Guide to the Universe | Dangershop, Wednesday Afternoon (Week 4)

"Now that you've mastered the art of the clever escape, it's time to master the speedy one."

Harper tapped a control, bringing up the empty cells from last week. "After all, breaking out of your cell is only the beginning."

"Your objective today is to make it to the spaceport on the other side of this dangerous, seedy city. You can split up, stay together, try to meet up with other escapees, then beg, bluff, and bribe your way though the city. One caveat though, keep violence to a minimum, not only does it attract attention, attacking your pursuers makes it personal. This goes double for deaths. You kill someone? You fail the exercise, as does everyone you're with at the time."

[ooc: The guards and inhabitants of the city are moddable for the most part since I'm kinda brain dead tonight but there might be a surprise or two.]

[ooc: OCD threads coming are up. Post away!]

As soon as the guards are taken care of, Aeryn nods down the hall, walking carefully and quietly and sticking closer to the walls. "Two standing guard there," she hisses, and nods the other way.

"Do you want me to use my sock again as a distraction?" Jamie whispered back.

Aeryn pauses. "Don't let them get used to the sock. Let the sock stay a surprise," she advises carefully. "Just be quick and quiet." And she slips around the corner in the opposite direction of the guards, expecting Jamie to follow.

Jamie pouts slightly and follows Aeryn.

He does have his puppet ready just in case the need arises.

The guards haven't noticed them yet, so Aeryn keeps an eye out for things like exit signs. She doesn't see any, but does see a door at the end of the hall that could be a stairwell. She continues in that direction, keeping an eye out as she opens the door.

Jamie follows Aeryn through the door and is about to say something when he feels something pressed against his head.

Two guards stand off to the side pointing their guns at the both of them.

"Just where do you think you're going?" One of them asks.

Jamie holds up his hand which is covered by the sock puppet. "Just for a walk handsome. Care to join us?" the sock puppet says.

As the guards share a look of "Buh?", Jamie makes a fist with the sock puppet and punches one of the guards straight in the face leaving the other one for Aeryn to handle.

See, this is what Aeryn likes, and she's able to knock the other guard out with one well-placed heel of the hand to the right place. And then she steals his weapon, because that's a smart thing to do, no violence or not. You never know.

"Did you just punch him with a sock puppet?" she whispers, continuing down the stairwell.

Jamie grabs the other guards weapon as well as the guards radio and puts the earpiece into his ear as he followed Aeryn down the stairwell. "I sure did. And you doubted the sock puppet. I think someone owes it an apology."

Jamie holds up the sock puppet for Aeryn to issue the suggested apology.

Aeryn continues down the stairs wonders if she somehow attracts a type. "How about after this is over, all right?" she asks, hoping he'll forget.

"Okay," Xander says, wide-eyed. "Right, then. Let's go."

Continued from here: (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomhigh/961906.html?thread=51006578#t51006578)Sam would have winked, but she was too busy walking quickly. Once they were clear of the guard-filled hallway, she stopped, trying to listen to her surroundings and hoping she could get a clue as to which way was out.

"Do you see any natural light?"

"No," he shook his head, ran further along the corridor and found a hallway to their left with a window at the end of it. "Here!" he called out.

"Nice, Cameron," Sam said, checking the window. "Do you see an alarm wire? Because right now, I'm thinking going out the window is our best bet."

"Does it matter? They know we're gone," Cameron said, studying the wall but unable to make anything out.

"Sometimes the alarms send an alert as to where you are, and we wouldn't want that," Sam said, running her hand along the sill. "I think we're good. What I wouldn't give for a glass cutter, though."

Cameron realised it was probably a good thing he got locked up with Sam. "Will breaking it do?" he asked.

"If you can muffle it, sure," Sam said, keeping an eye on the hallway. "We don't want every guard knowing where we are."

"Uh... Sure," he really had no clue how muffled this would be, but it wasn't like they had much choice. He pulled off his shirt and wrapped it around his fist. "Okay, step back."

[identity profile] carter-i-am.livejournal.com 2006-08-03 12:59 am (UTC)(link)
Sam stepped back, absolutely not staring at Cameron, because that would be weird. Pretty, but weird.

He'd never actually done this before and he really hoped he wasn't going to end up just hurting his hand and leaving the glass unbroken. That'd look stupid.

Taking a deep breath, he hit out at the window and luckily it broke without protest. Yay for image saved. Using the shirt, he tried to break away all the shards from the wood and brushed them from the windowsill so they couldn't cut themselves climbing through.

Tempe had just entered an area of the building teeming with people. This definitely wasn't the way out.

Silently, she wished she'd worn something a little less conspicuous, as there was no way in hell she could blend in with this crowd.

"Hey, you!" one of the guards suddenly called out as he spotted her.

Aw, crud, Tempe thought, as she stood, frozen to the spot.

The guard was moving rapidly toward her. What the hell was she supposed to do now? Harper had said not to use any violence. Not that Tempe knew all that much about fighting someone twice the size of her, anyway.

Run like hell, run like hell...

And so she did, diving behind an ugly-looking statue a few minutes later, watching as the guard sped past.

She sat there for a few minutes, breathing hard. How could she get out of this? Play to her strengths, of course. But what were her strengths?

Words. She could make her way out with words. Man, she wished she'd actually been able to show up for Ivanova's workshop. That would've been so helpful right now. Outquipping the bad guy...

Oh well, guess it was up to her now.

She looked to make sure the coast was clear before coming out from behind the statue and making haste toward something resembling stairs, to take her in the downward direction.

An hour and a half later, after meeting up with several more guards, insulting them mightily and running like hell while they were confused, Tempe was on the main floor.

She found a little-used side door, and made her way outside into a dark alley. A dark alley with a lot of big, muscly-looking bad guys.

She slinked her way along the outside wall of the building. All eyes were on her now. She tried her best to make it look like she fit in. "Gentlemen," she said, nodding in their general direction. "Nice evening, isn't it?"

She received a murmur of agreement. "I don't suppose any of you would happen to have a map of the city. I'm new in town, you see." She flipped her hair back, hoping that the use of her good looks could help her out in this situation.

One of the muscly men made his way over to her, leering at her. "Sure do, darling. But what are you going to give me?"

"My undying gratitude?" Tempe replied.

The man smirked. "Not good enough," he said, edging closer to her.

"How about a lovely silver disc, decorated with artifacts of a thousand ancient worlds?" Tempe said, picking up the lid of a nearby trashcan and hitting him as hard as she could, knocking him to the ground.

She snatched the map as he fell, and ran like hell, not looking back to see if the man's cronies were following her.

Hopefully, all that running for the basketball team had paid off, and she'd make it out without dying.

John might need some help out of the city. His Monopoly money is depleted and he's not used to crowd like this.

So, this time? He totally hides in the laundry. Yes, he really does. It worked on television.

Of course, this laundry is DIRTY as hell and it stinks and John wonders if these guards ever change.

The laundry basket makes it down to the laundry room and when the room goes quiet, John's out and he slips out of the lock up building.

"Uh, excuse me," Fry called to the nearest person. "Hi, how's it going? I'm not supposed to tell you this, but I'm from the Department of Internal Affairs. I was just asking your CO a few questions about the incident that happened last month, talk about a messy business, and I got turned around. Could you point me to the exit?"

The guy looked wary. "What incident?"

"Well if you don't know, I'm not going to tell you. You might not have the clearance."

The lackey pointed to the door. "There."

"Would you walk me there? This is a pretty big deal and Internal Affairs guys have been known to go missing in here. I'll be sure to tell your CO what a great job you did."

The lackey raised an eyebrow but escorted Fry to the door and opened it for him. No one else seemed bothered by him since he had an escort. Luckily, he managed to ask the new guy.

"Thanks!" Fry said and ducked out.
