Edmund is once again sitting on a stool behind the counter.

"Currying favor. It's a grand tradition. Call the person who curries favor well what you will, sycophant, lacky, brown noser - the fact of the matter is that the person who kisses up to the owner and the customer the best is the one who is going to get the promotions, the raises, and the days off when he or she asks for them."

Edmund stands up and favors the students with a smile that, by now, most recognize bodes ill for someone.

"Today you will break up into pairs and will be competing against your 'partner' for my favor. He or she who wins my favor will receive an All and Sundries gift certificate. How to win? Insult your partner, clean my shop, come up with a way to convince Baldrick to bathe, do something to make me happy. Succeed, and you win riches and possibly early dismissal. Fail, and you will be here for the entirety of today's session and I will send Baldrick to recite the grand tale of his great-grandfather's boil to you - the unexpurgated version."

Blair waited for his partner and looked around, trying to figure out what he would buy with the gift certificate.

"So, do you think if we screwed up and he got to yell and criticize that that would make him happy?" Dawn looked around the store. "There's lots of stuff we could screw up..."

"You know, that's probably a good idea." Blair smiled and bounced. "He does like criticizing people."

"So where do you want to start?"

"We could mislabel a section of the store." Blair eyed the glitter bins. "Maybe spell everything wrong so he could make fun of us."

"Oooh," Dawn said, impressed by Blair's criminal mind. "I like that idea. All we need now are markers."

Blair dug a few out of his backpack. "I've got markers. I think I'll spell blue B L O O. Sound stupid enough?"

Dawn took a marker and looked around. "I think that's perfectly stupid. Hmmm. Maybe I'll just switch the signs around," she said, as she replaced the eggs sign with the sign for umbrellas.

Blair happily misspelled all the glitter signs and then wrote 'stickee stuf' over the sign for glue. "How's it coming, Dawn?"

"Pretty well, I think," Dawn said, stepping back proudly to admire her handiwork. "I'm got egg-umbrellas, pencil-tissues, and flower-pots."

She grinned. "Flower pots. Hee."

Blair laughed and looked over at Blackadder. "Do you think we should go tell him now?"

"Yeah, probably," Dawn nodded, then adjusted the sign on the lemons so it was just so. Except for the part where it said MOPS.

"Alright, man, let's go (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomhigh/958204.html?thread=50819068#t50819068)." Blair headed in the direction of Blackadder. "Although if this all goes wrong and he starts to look like he's going to throw things, we should probably make a break for it."
