Lying and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them, Class #4

Jarod was waiting with his hands behind his back as the class arrived. "Hello again. I hope you've all recovered from having to tell the truth last week," he smirked, "because this week you'll be lying yourselves sick."

"You've shaded the truth so much that it's no longer believable, or someone has checked your references--in any event, you've been found out. Your job during this class is to either pair up or have a group of three of you, and for one of you to make the other person or people believe that you know what you're talking about. It's your job to get yourself out of whatever trouble you've gotten yourself into. But it's your partner's job to come up with the scenario."

"You're teenagers, so hopefully I won't have to tell you how to lie, but I'm here if you have questions."

[ooc: Not here until 6 pm EST. The way this works is: Partner 1 confronts Partner 2 with the scenario that's been flubbed. Partner 2 lies his or her way out of it.]

"I do indeed," Peter said. "I should let you know that it's all Rory Gilmore's fault."

Z arched her eyebrows at him. "It's Rory Gilmore's fault that the National Association of Widget Inspectors has never heard of you?"

"You didn't know she's the Head Inspector at the NAWI?" Peter asked. "Are you on their mailing list?"

"As a widget manufacturer, no, I only get our newsletter."

"That's a shame. The NAWI newsletter is fantastic. They have a monthly column about comedic mishaps in widget inspecting that shouldn't be missed," Peter praised.

"Uh-huh. So how come they've never heard of you, again?"

"I signed up for the mailing list under a pseudonym, of course," Peter said.

"Because of Rory Gilmore."

"She's kind of evil like that," Peter said.

"I'm afraid you're not making any sense, Mr. Parker."

"Things rarely do when it comes to widget inspecting," Peter said. "It's a crazy world like that."

"Mr. Parker, do not make me have you escorted from this facility."

"You don't have the authorization," Peter said. "You're a widget manufacturer, not widget security."

"I could get widget security," Z threatened, and then broke character and said, "Okay, I think at this point you're pretty much screwed. If it's going to be Rory Gilmore's fault there has to be a reason it's her fault."

"She's Rory Gilmore. She does things like that to mess with people because she was dropped on her head frequently as a child and it turned her evil, what more do you need?" Peter pleaded.

"Most people are not going to buy that as an explanation. Even if it's true. Which, I've met Rory, and I'm pretty sure it's not. But hey, you tried," Z added by way of placation.

"You'll see. One day, everyone will see," Peter said. "Well, it was fun lying to you. See you around the assembly line while I'm inspecting stuff."

"I'll keep that in mind. Later, widget inspector. It was fun gettign lied at."
