Writing Workshop - 7/25 - Journalism Classroom - Tuesday Morning

Chloe was tapping away at her laptop when class started, browsing through Amazon. Five months was not too early to start a Christmas list, no matter what her father tried to argue. She gave everyone a few minutes to show up before she started talking.

"Good morning! Okay, so today we're going to sort of finish up our trip through the wonderful world of non-fiction by talking about one of my personal favorite kinds of writing - news stories. It really is an art to be able to give all the necessary information about a story in the tiny space that newspapers and magazines usually give a reporter. Editors can be ruthless people, let me tell you."

"So, what I want you to do for me today is to give me 50-100 words about something that happened while you were in the cabins these past two weeks. It can be something really simple, or something amusing, but the only thing is, it has to be true. We're going to be talking about making up the news next week."

[I'm going to be unavailable for interaction until 5pm EST today. *sigh*]

SOUNDS OF SILENCE
By Kaylee Frye

Fandom High students experienced something very strange on the morning of Saturday, July 15. They woke up in their cabins voiceless. The cause? Very dangerous demons who harvest hearts. Students were quickly evacuated from the cabins and sent to the dorms for lockdown.

They tried to make the best of the situation by any means possible. Many used computers and text messaging to communicate while others used notebooks or even facial expressions and hand gestures not dirty. Many students stayed together in common rooms just enjoying the company. Some even cooked. Unfortunately, others weren't so lucky when the demons attacked them. Fortunately, no one was killed.

This wasn't the first bit of weirdness to occur in Fandom and probably won't be the last.
