If it were possible? Dr. Cox looks even more cranky than he ever has. It may have something to do with working a double shift the day before.

So when he lets out his trademark sharp whistle and stomps into the room? It's with extra stomping power and his glare is extra glaring.

"Okay Newbies. Let's talk Blackmail. Blackmail is where someone forces you to do something that you don't want to do by immoral means. There are different types of black mail. I will demonstrate each type and provide you with a means on how to escape it."

Emotional Blackmail
Emotional blackmail is where someone tries to use your emotions, either negative or positive, to do what they want you to do. The best response is to show that you have no heart because it was torn out of your chest by some calculating shrew who danced on it while it was still beating.

Dr. Cox pulls out a puppet that looks like a female with Brunette hair.
Jordan-puppet: Perry? I know that you hate Kelso with the passion of a thousand suns but I need you to be nice to him before the board meeting so I can deal with the impending migraine of doom. Do this for me or I'll break your spirit with constant nagging and reminders of how you're a total failure as a human being.

Cox: Gosh Jordan. Your beside manner has once again won me over with flying colors. Hate to tell you sweetie but since we're not married anymore? I don't have to a damn thing I don't like to. In fact I now smoke cigars in bed while eating cheetos and drinking beer while watching the big game at top volume. So nag away oh princess of darkness! My inner light shines like the top of the chrysler building!

Moral Blackmail
Moral blackmail is typically used to appeal to your better nature. The solution? Don't have a better nature.

Dr. Cox pulls out a puppet with weird hair.

JD-Puppet: Gee Dr. Cox. I know you've been mean to me in the past but considering I just saved your career by telling Dr. Kelso that it was my idea to enter that patient into the treatment plan, you can cut me a little slack.

Dr. Cox: Listen up Shirley! Just because you did the right thing is no reason for me to let up on you. I let up on you? People die. Not on my watch sister. Now go home and wash your lingere in the delicate cycle and leave me alone.

"They got the goods on me!" Blackmail
If I have to explain this to you? You'll get smacked. The best way to deal with this type of blackmail? Don't give a damn.

Dr. Cox pulls out a devil-puppet.

Dr. Kelso Puppet: Hey there Perry. Now guess what? I just found out that you put your patient into the drug treatment program without prior authorizaion? Know what this means? It means that if you don't tow the line with me Perry, I'll be wearing your ass for a hat just before I kick it out the door and then do a little dance while I revel in the glory of firing you. Got me?

Dr. Cox: Gee Bobbo. Looks like you got me there. Only problem is I don't give a flying rat's ass if you fire me. Hell! I'd probably give you a wet sloppy kiss and a squeeze on the tush before I run from this place while screaming at the top of my lungs "I'M FREE AT LAST! FREE AT LAST! LORD GOD ALMIGHTY I'M FREE AT LAST!"

Cox then turned to his students. "So in honor of today's subject, I had a little talk with a certain shabby fella down at the radio station. He was oh so kind as to provide me with video footage of all you students at your lowest and most humiliating moments while attending school here. I want each of you to pair up and try to blackmail each other in turn.

"Okay," Tyler agreed. He hardened his face, his posture, his tone as he tried to think of something. "So, Bel," he said in a tone that insinuated he knew more than he was saying. "Looked like you were having a good time at Caritas last Wednesday."

He paused, hoping the demon would go along with it.

Bel played along. There was no flailing because he hadn't been drinking and knew this was only pretend. "I'm not sure what you're talking about," he said with feigned indifference, curious to see what Tyler was about to spring on him.

"You looked pretty friendly with that blonde girl," Tyler said, having only a vague idea where this was going. "Intimate."

He paused for a long moment. "Y'know, security cameras catch everything that happen there. Might be a shame if Phoebe saw that film."

Bel pretended to look alarmed that he'd been "caught" then crossed his arms and said coldly, "You threatening me, Tyler?"

"Not a threat." Tyler said coolly. "Exactly."

"But I might have a project I want to work on. It would save me some grief if you told Veronica I was being a good boy and kept her off my tail. Think you can manage that, and I'll try to make sure Phoebe never hears about your little friend?"

Hey, it was a step up from threatening to cut someone's balls off. Tyler was almost proud of himself.

Bel's instinctive reaction would've been to eliminate the threat with violence. Failing that, it would be to make a counter threat of his own. But Dr. Cox had his own preferred approach, so Bel gave that a try.

He laughed at Tyler. "You think I give a damn whether you tell Phoebe about that or not? Go ahead, tell her. See if she believes you. And even if she does, it doesn't matter. We've got this open relationship thing going. So be my guest, tell her. I don't care."

"So I could call her right now?" Tyler said, eyebrows raised. "Or, wait. Better yet, I'll email her the photos. Just so she can see how seriously you're taking the open relationship."

He grabbed his notebook. "How many L's are there in Halliwell?"

"P-H-O-E-B-E-H-A-L-L-I-W-E-L-L," Bel spelled out for him. "And can you cc me with the photos? I'd love to take a look at them myself."

Tyler blinked. "You're good," he told Bel with respect. "Had practice at this?"

"Just winging it," Bel said, grinning. "If you really had something like that on me I'd fireball first, ask questions later."

"And I like not being a pile of ashes, so good thing this is pretend," Tyler said lightly. "Your turn."

Bel found it hard to take this whole thing seriously as he came up with his blackmail material. "So, uh, I heard about that little collection of yours, Tyler," he said with a knowing grin.

Tyler did not like that grin, even if it was all pretend. "Yeah? Which one?"

Bel looked around, then dropped his voice and leaned closer. "Heard you have a big collection of original edition My Little Ponies," he said. "Pretty surprising for a guy like you. Something like that to get out, people might not take you so seriously."

Tyler meeped in faux embarassment. "Those are worth a lot of money!," he protested. "I mean, they're Alec's anyhow."

"Sure, they are," Bel snickered. "Wow, what kind of fight club are you going to have with just My Little Ponies to play with when word of this gets out? Unless, of course, you can convince me not to tell anyone about it."

Tyler looked at Bel dismissively, rememberign what Dr. Cox had recommended. "It shows I'm mutilayered. In touch with my feminine side. All of that," he said. "Go ahead. Tell people."

Bel blinked. "You seriously expect me to think you don't care if people found out? You'd be the laughing stock of the school."

"Maybe I want people to find out," Tyler argued. "Maybe I've been trying to start a My Little Pony club and am just too shy to spread the word."

Bel shook his head and laughed. "Well, so much for that plan for quick cash," he said, snapping his fingers in mock disappointment. "So, should we try moral or emotional blackmail, too?"

"Why not," Tyler said. "Same scenarios as before, or should we make up new stuff to torture each other with?"

"I think we need different scenarios for emotional blackmail," Bel said. "Since it's not so much a threat of exposure as it is pressure to do something."

"I get that," Tyler said thoughtfully.

He smiled as he came up with the scenario. "Y'know, Bel, you've really been a good friend to me so far, and I know you have this whole redemption thing going on. I'd appreciate it a lot if you helped me start my Cabbage Patch Kids fan club."

Bel almost choked. "Cabbage Patch Kids?" he repeated. "Wow, good for you, but I really don't think I have the time...."

Tyler looked sad. "It would only take a few hours," he said. "And I think it woould help you make a lot of people at this school very happy. PLus, it'd bean a ton to me, personally."

How he managed to keep a straight face was one of the mysteries of our time.
