Lying and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them, Class #3

"Hello!" Jarod waved to the gathered students. The bandage was gone from his head, but the stitches were still visible. "Today we'll be learning about how to keep a secret, and I mean a real secret here, one that someone's life is depending on, by telling the truth."

"The kicker here is that someone will be asking you questions, trying to find out what the secret is. It's your job to answer their questions as completely as possible, but to still keep that secret. Then you'll switch. You'll each pick a secret of your own, and write it down on a piece of paper before you start. Then, your partner will write down what they think the secret is when they're finished, and show it to you. I'm trusting you to tell them if they got it right."

"Also, please feel free to have some coffee, juice, fruit, and bagels," he gestured at the table behind him.

[ooc: No Jarod until 6 pm EST, pair up and have fun!]

"Okay." He definitely needed to ask broader questions, but yes and no questions seemed to be easier to come up with. "Can you tell me a bit more about the friends you used to live with before you came here?"

The secret wasn't about that, but there was no harm in answering the question. "It was just me, really, at first," he said. "Then other people started moving in. There were probably 10 or 15 guys by the end, all ages. We didn't really talk much about who they had been before they moved in. I didn't think it mattered."

"A bit like Fandom then. It matters what you do now more than what you did before," Cameron considered it. "How did you end up being alone at first?" he asked, sounding a bit unsure about asking this. "And this has nothing to do with the secret and you don't want to talk about it, feel free to shut me up."

"I didn't exactly know I was alone," Tyler said. "My aunt's condo blew up and I needed a place to stay. My imaginary friend had a house."

He ran a hand through his hair. "And no, this has nothing to do with the secret."

Taking that as a hint to change the subject, Cameron continued. "Does it involve girls?" he asked because it could be very possible.

Tyler laughed. "No. It was possibly the least sexy thing ever."

"STDs?" It was an automatic question.

Re: Class Assignment

[identity profile] tyler-gone.livejournal.com 2006-07-24 02:52 pm (UTC)(link)
That earned Cam a dirty look. "It doesn't have anything to do with girls or sex. And I don't have any STDs."

Re: Class Assignment

"Sorry, just... you said least sexy..." Cameron cleared his throat, quickly trying to think of something else. "Ever had pets?"

Re: Class Assignment

[identity profile] tyler-gone.livejournal.com 2006-07-24 02:58 pm (UTC)(link)
"It's okay, I get the connection," Tyler said, contemplating whether his secret might actuallty be sexier than an ATD.

Probably not.

"And no pets since before my dad left."

Re: Class Assignment

[identity profile] cameronmitchell.livejournal.com 2006-07-24 03:02 pm (UTC)(link)
"Too bad. Pets are awesome," Cameron tried to think unsexy thoughts. "Every had surgery?"

Re: Class Assignment

[identity profile] tyler-gone.livejournal.com 2006-07-24 03:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Tyler tapped the side of his face, where traces of his gunshot wound were just barely visible. "They did some work to minimize the scarring on this," he said. "Nothing else, really. And that's not it."

Re: Class Assignment

[identity profile] cameronmitchell.livejournal.com 2006-07-24 03:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Cameron went quiet, but it was hard to say if he was contemplating the secret or the scars. "Okay, so it's from before Fandom High, it doesn't involve your friends, any girls or sex and it's unsexy."

He scratched the back of his head as he pondered things. He decided to go for a different tactic. "Why is it a secret? What do you think would happen if someone found out?"

Re: Class Assignment

[identity profile] tyler-gone.livejournal.com 2006-07-24 03:15 pm (UTC)(link)
"There'd be a whole new thing to tease me about," Tyler said. "That's about it. It's not my deepest darkest secret or anything. Veronica Mars already broadcast those."

Re: Class Assignment

[identity profile] cameronmitchell.livejournal.com 2006-07-24 03:16 pm (UTC)(link)
"So it's just embarrassing?" Cameron had the feeling Veronica would be a lot better at this guessing game. "Ugly underwear?"

Re: Class Assignment

[identity profile] tyler-gone.livejournal.com 2006-07-24 03:20 pm (UTC)(link)
"Probably depends on your perspective. It would embarass me. And no, not ugly underwear."

Re: Class Assignment

[identity profile] cameronmitchell.livejournal.com 2006-07-24 03:21 pm (UTC)(link)
"Got any tattoos?" Cameron asked and sighed. "I'm way off, aren't I?"

Re: Class Assignment

[identity profile] tyler-gone.livejournal.com 2006-07-24 03:25 pm (UTC)(link)
"Wrong solar system," Tyler agreed amiably. "Do you want to keep going, or should we trade?"

Re: Class Assignment

[identity profile] cameronmitchell.livejournal.com 2006-07-24 03:27 pm (UTC)(link)
"We can trade for a while, maybe I'll get some inspiration," Cameron said, somehow doubting it.

Re: Class Assignment

[identity profile] tyler-gone.livejournal.com 2006-07-24 03:30 pm (UTC)(link)
"Okay," Tyler said.

"So is your secret about girls?"

Re: Class Assignment

[identity profile] cameronmitchell.livejournal.com 2006-07-24 03:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh man. "Yeah, I guess it sort of involves a girl."

Re: Class Assignment

[identity profile] tyler-gone.livejournal.com 2006-07-24 03:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Tyler blinked. He hadn't expected to get a hit so quickly. "Molly?"

Re: Class Assignment

[identity profile] cameronmitchell.livejournal.com 2006-07-24 03:36 pm (UTC)(link)
"Nope," Cameron said relieved as he hoped the rest wouldn't be so eaasy to guess.

Re: Class Assignment

[identity profile] tyler-gone.livejournal.com 2006-07-24 03:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Hmm. "Is it someone from here, or someone you know from back home?"

Re: Class Assignment

[identity profile] cameronmitchell.livejournal.com 2006-07-24 03:59 pm (UTC)(link)
"Neither actually," Cameron admitted.
