The Chef was pretty much bouncing off the walls today. He was very excited about running detention tomorrow. Das Schnitzel looked worried. This probably wasn't the best idea ever.

"Ahhh. Magical brownies then," Pip responded.

"And shepherd's pie." she nodded.

"Magical Shepherd's pie? That's a new one on me."

Pippi nodded.

"It was Walter's idea." she said. "Theoretically you could make a magical anything that requires butter. I could make you magical croissants if you want."

Pip shook his head. "Thanks, but I never touch the stuff."

Pippi shrugged.

"I think we had more fun before we ate the stuff."

Pip nodded. "Most likely. At least it help him not brood about Nadia too much."

"Hmmm." she said. "I'm your girl if you wanted to be distracted I guess."

Pip nodded. "And in that regard, Me-pi, there's not one like you."

Pippi smiled at him. "Thanks." she said. "But... Is it the best thing for it really you think?"

Pip shrugged and sighed. "Honestly, I don't really know. They were very close."

"I have a sneaking suspicion they didn't talk seriously before she left."

Pip raised an eyebrow as he pulled out a pack of cigarettes. "What do you mean?"

"They didn't break up." she said poking at her food. "Left eachother hanging like a rigger falling off the bowspirit and getting tangled up in the jib."

"...Ah," Pip said, trying to work through the complicated nautical metaphor. "So... if I'm following you right, Walter hung her by the ankles over the causeway?"

"No." she said shaking her head. "I mean, she left and they left things between them unresolved. Up in the air. Just sorta hanging."

"Aaah. Okay. So instead of facing the matter, they just kind of scurried around it?"

"That's my theory."

Pip nodded. "That can't be good for you."

"No."

Particularly since Walter had been thinking about breaking up with her before she decided to go. But that wasn't her information to share.

"And I know Walter hasn't been his best ever since he came back from Poland," Pip said, pensively."

Pippi rubbed her face.

"No."

Pip shook his head. "God damn British inabillity to deal with their problems."

"He says will be fine eventually." Pippi said. "I just hope I'm helping 'eventually' be sooner rather then later and not just putting it off."

Pip scratched the back of his head. "Well, if we're worried about Walter, there is someone we could talk to."
