Careers Fair, Fandom High Front Lawn, Friday Afternoon, 07/21/06

By lunch time, the booths were set up, the guests had arrived and there was quaint music playing from somewhere undetermined. Hawkeye is walking around with one of those portable microphone/speaker set-ups, roaming from booth to booth announcing the various guests that have come to Fandom to talk about their professions.

And despite what the mainland weather forecast said, it was definitely a nice, fine day.

Aly laughed at the question and smiled gleefully. "Not the best bribe I've ever offered?"

Parker grinned back at her. "That too? I've been offering money and threats, but something more subtle would be good."

"I've found revenge to be very useful if you're willing to keep a close eye on the recruit to make sure he's not thinking with his...emotions," Aly obviously substituted a different word at the last moment. "As for me? The only bribe I've ever taken was a bet."

Parker grinned wickedly. "I think I'd like the spy biz in your world. And what kind of bet? If it's not too rude to ask."

"Oh, it can be a good deal of fun if you look at it the right way," Aly agreed. "Do you plan to try the craft in your world?" She laughed merrily and winked at Parker. "I was bet I couldn't keep two girls and their family alive for the summer."

"On a purely domestic front. Not for any king or country." Parker smiled. "What did you win when the girls and their families lived? Aside from pure satisfaction."

"Then you'll have plenty of scope for bribery and revenge unless your brand of domestic spying is vastly different from than in my country," Aly said. She smiled sweetly and looked almost innocent. "A favour from the God who made the bet. That and one of the girls is Queen of the Isles now."

"Niiiiiice. Always good to have friends in high places-- temporal or otherwise." Parker was seriously considering a CIA career at the moment. "And my brand of domestic spying should be pretty damn challenging; the people in question tend to go to any lengths." She smiled grimly. "I'm hoping to match them on that."

"It truly is," Aly agreed with a grin. "Though with his sense of humour, I'm sure the favour will end up rebounding upon me in some way, but that's what happens with a Trickster." She winked then got more serious. "You'd not enjoy it if it weren't challenging. And match the people by any means but do keep in mind that you're not them. There's a reason you're not the adversary." She softened the words with a smile.
