Careers Fair, Fandom High Front Lawn, Friday Afternoon, 07/21/06

By lunch time, the booths were set up, the guests had arrived and there was quaint music playing from somewhere undetermined. Hawkeye is walking around with one of those portable microphone/speaker set-ups, roaming from booth to booth announcing the various guests that have come to Fandom to talk about their professions.

And despite what the mainland weather forecast said, it was definitely a nice, fine day.

"My name is Commander Cruger," Cruger informs Jamie. "And as for the gravity-defying, it's one of the many special properties of the fabric used to create the Ranger uniforms."

"What's your policy on mutants with special powers," Jamie asked curiously.

"I do not share the prejudices against them that many seem to, if that's what you're asking," Cruger says. "In fact, I strongly believe that people with such abilities can be an asset in the fight against evil."

"Do you recruit people from outside your timeline?" Jamie asked. "And what do you look for in a recruit?"

"If they possess the right qualities, it's something that we at SPD would consider," Cruger tells Jamie. "And as for what those qualities are? A strong sense of responsibility, as well as dedication towards the ideal of making the galaxy a safer place for everyone."

"How do you train these individuals? Outside of maybe sending them here, that is. And also if you don't mind a personal question, where are you from precisely and what are you?"

"The SPD Academy has two main campuses- Earth and Nebula. And I am a Sirian, from the sector of space which *used* to contain the planet Sirius. It doesn't exist anymore."

Cruger now looks vaguely emo.

Hamlet raised his hand. "Are these uniforms flame retardant as well? From what I have heard, it seems as though the SPD teams often encounter situations with a great deal of explosions, and I would hate to think that the officers were constantly in jeopardy."

"They are," Cruger nods solemnly. "The fabric is highly resistant to impacts of concussive force, as well."

"Is it difficult to fight so many battles? Criminals will forever be around, but are officers give opportunities to rest while not enforcing laws?"

"Of course," Cruger nods. "A police force is ineffective if they are unhappy and run ragged."

"May I ask you something sir?" He took a look around the booth. "Whose decision was it use use colour-coded spandex?"

"The Power Rangers are a tradition stretching back thousands of years. It's hard to say who, exactly, decided on the colours and what they mean."
