Jewelry workshop 2

“Today, we are going to talk about the history of Jewelry and also learn to work with metals. If you look at this handout you will see that Jewelry has been used for hundreds of thousands of years. It has been used at decoration, as money, as bribes and in religious ceremonies. It has been made from a wide variety of materials, with only one thing in common. Almost always, the materials are of a hard and nearly indestructible nature. One wants these things to last forever, right?”

She looked around the room. “I you to divide into groups and to pick a material that you know Jewelry to be made of. Then you can make a little presentation about your material for the rest of the gang here.”

after that

“Now, lets take a lookat metal. It is by far not a requirement to use it but I want you to be familiar with it. This is silver. It is a precious metal, but easier to work with then gold. You are getting 20 gauge silver wire. I would like you to wrap it tightly around the dowels provided over there and saw through with the jewelers’ saw. You will get a number of jumprings, which you can connect into a chain.”

Mac drops into a seat near the rest of the group. "Well, I always liked silver. So there's my vote, anyone else?"

"Silver's good. Plus, it works against werewolves and things that go bump in the night."

JOhn takes a dowel with a slit down the length and wraps the wire around it. Geez, is he making chain mail?

Xander's first attempt at making jump rings doesn't turn out too well, but he tries again, this time with better luck.

Mac starts winding the wire. It feels a little odd, but she figures anyone playing with dowel and wire is bound to look a little strange.

John walks over towards Agatha in a distinctly mosey-ing way, such as what one does when one has to ask a question and is not sure how best to ask.

John glances over at something that may be doing the equivalent of whistling innocently under a tarp.

John hopes he gets his Jewelry homework done before the next class. On Wednesday. Butit's not like he should gripe, as he's missed opening the store on Friday.

See, it's times like this that makes John wonder if he should step up to theplate and take charge, or beat the orange haired gent trapped in the jail cell with him in the Kludge workshop.

It's a tough choice.
