There are drinks set out on a folding table near the unlit campfire. There's also a cardboard box at each end of the table, as yet unopened. Xander is standing in front of the table handing out cups.

"This one might go a lot easier than it did last time, considering what I'm gonna do today is make you talk, and after this weekend, I don't think anybody's gonna have a problem coming up with things to say. There's a catch to it, though, and it'll be a little different than when the last class played this game, too."

"Last week we looked at one specific job someone might have on a team; this time, we'll go with a skill that can be useful for anybody when you're trying to support your fellow Scooby-types -- or your flashy superpowered leader, if you have one. We'll switch back and forth between those two things each week for most of the workshop, and look at putting them together towards the end.

So what skill comes in really handy when you're trying to investigate a crime, stop the bad guys, rescue the princess or otherwise save the day for goodness, justice, puppies, and truth?

The ability to lie your ass off.

I know that sounds kind of contradicty, like 'jumbo shrimp' or 'bad pie,' and some of you guys may not be down with bending the truth until it squeaks, but the fact is that sometimes you might have to, at least for a while. You may need to cover for your friend with the secret identity, or your entire group that just cut class to go slay ~~creepy guys with scalpels~~ jello dragons, or yourself, if you're in the wrong place at the wrong time. And hey, maybe you'll get lucky enough not to need it -- but it's a skill you should have, just in case."

River walked up to her and smiled.

Cally smiled back.

"Hi. I'm... Brad. Brad Socinus."

No one said they had to be good lies, right?

"Nice to meet you, Brad. I'm Esperanza Coole." Lying was confusing.

"Well, it's, erm, unpleasant to meet you, Esperana," Cally said.

"Ditto," River replied. "Freezing weather today."

"I like the cold," Cally said. "It's... nice and stuff. Makes you feel like dancing."

"I hate dancing," River said. "Makes my head hurt."

"Me, I'll take any excuse to get into a dress and high heels," Cally said, chuckling.

"High heels. Good for walking." River nodded. "Go for walks in the woods with them on."

"Oh, all the time," Cally said. "And they're especially useful when you have to run away from Zombies and stuff. Totally not tempting twisted ankles or anything."

"It helps a lot, yes. And so does the tight dresses. And they scare the zombies too, which is good."

"See, I don't see why zombies get such a bad wrap, actually," Cally said, wondering what the frak she was doing saying such things. "Personally? I think we should meet the next zombie horde with open arms and hug them all."

"Yes. Hugs and flowers and fresh arms to eat," River replied.

"Ew, that sounds..." She almost slipped. "Lovely. Frakkin' awesome, even. It would be the best day ever."

River grinned. "Yes, and little toes for snacks." Hm, perhaps it was time to change the subject.

Cally rubbed the back of her neck. "Suddenly, I'm finding myself very hungry."

"I'm not," River said. "I just want to... not move." This was getting difficult.

Randomness would save her, Cally thought.

"I breed hamsters."

"I eat them. Have any for sale?" River was really hungry, though obviously not for hamsters.

"Of course I do," Cally said. "But I believe I left them in my hovercraft. My hovercraft which is... full of eels."

"Eels? They're long and thin. We can tie them into knots." River blinked.

"And then wear them as highly fashionable sashes," Cally said.

"Yes, and wrap them up as presents."

Cally was starting to giggle.

"Eels always make the best presents, in my experience."

The giggle was contagious.

"So they do. Especially wrapped in gold paper.
