The Chef wasn't speaking this morning. Instead he held up signs (which were written in English for some reason.)

Sorry about not talking this morning students. I stumbled upon a whole bag of saltwater taffy last night and ate the whole thing. So now my mouth is pretty much glued together. But I have no regrets. SALTWATER TAFFY FOR LIFE!

Today's Menu:

-Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwiches

-Tuna Fish Sandwiches

-Assorted Raw Vegetables

-Fruit Salad

She takes the half, still looking at it warily. "You're sure I won't start speaking in tongues or grow an extra appendage?"

"I promise," he says. "Cross my heart, smack me dead, stick a lobster on my head."

She frowns, staring for a moment. Then she tries the andwich.

As soon as she swallows, she says, "I don't feel any differently."

"Because it's not poisoned," John laughs and eats his sandwich too. "I love you too much to try anything funky with food."

"Oh, I trust you with this," she says, deciding things like dropping pizza didn't count as 'anything funky.' "But it's the cafeteria." That last part might be whispered, like someone might overhear.

"You're scared of the cafeteria?"

"I don't think I've actually eaten here since the beginning of school. I think someone ate something with tentacles, so I've been cautious," she explains, but she still doesn't feel any extra arms.

"Ah." He nods and continues eating. "You'd look hot with tentacles. Just saying. If that happened and all."

Aeryn feels the back of her neck. "Am I growing tentacles?" she asks, putting the sandwich down.

"No!" He shakes his head and laughs. "No, you're not. No tentacles. Just your normal self."

"Don't scare me like that," she says, obviously relieved.

John ends up laughing hysterically at her fear and then relief at the mention of tentacles.

Aeryn responds by rolling her eyes at him.

After recovering from his laughter, he asks, "We still on for this weekend?"

She nods. "Wouldn't miss it," she assures him. "And on our way back, maybe we could go by the junkyard."

John chokes on his sandwich.

Aeryn just smiles.

"...seriously?" John asks, still clearing his throat.

"Did you think I would joke?"

"I think you would tease," he says, half smiling at her.

"I might," she admits, half-smiling back. "But I'm not."

"Oh my god, Aeryn." John blinks and then says, "Oh my god,"

"I never said no to that one," she reminds him.

"I know." He swallows and finishes his half of the sandwich. "But still...oh my god."

Aeryn smiles. "I'm glad I brought that up now."
