The Chef wasn't speaking this morning. Instead he held up signs (which were written in English for some reason.)

Sorry about not talking this morning students. I stumbled upon a whole bag of saltwater taffy last night and ate the whole thing. So now my mouth is pretty much glued together. But I have no regrets. SALTWATER TAFFY FOR LIFE!

Today's Menu:

-Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwiches

-Tuna Fish Sandwiches

-Assorted Raw Vegetables

-Fruit Salad

John decides to go to lunch today. The tuna fish sandwiches look good and he doesn't seem to mind the unusual quiet in the lunch room.

Food. Oh, God, food. Sakurazaki helps herself to plenty of everything except for the PB&J, and sets quickly to the task of making her complaining stomach as quiet as everything else seemed to be.

Aeryn's developed a habit of passing by the cafeteria just to shake her head at the English language when she sees the menu. But she can actually read it today, and she sees John, so she heads over. "Hi," she says.

Pip raised an eyebrow as he passed by Sakurazaki. "Hungry?"

"Hey," he says and smiles at her. "Want half my sandwich?"

She sits down across from him and asks, "Is it scary?" Spelled correctly or not, it's still the cafeteria.

"No, it's pretty good," he says and hands her the uneaten half. "Tuna fish is always good."

She takes the half, still looking at it warily. "You're sure I won't start speaking in tongues or grow an extra appendage?"

"Starving," she grumbled quite miserably in response, and then chewed at the end of a carrot.

"I promise," he says. "Cross my heart, smack me dead, stick a lobster on my head."

"Ya know, eating regularly helps defeat that problem," Pip responded.

She frowns, staring for a moment. Then she tries the andwich.

As soon as she swallows, she says, "I don't feel any differently."

"Because it's not poisoned," John laughs and eats his sandwich too. "I love you too much to try anything funky with food."

"Oh, I trust you with this," she says, deciding things like dropping pizza didn't count as 'anything funky.' "But it's the cafeteria." That last part might be whispered, like someone might overhear.

Sakurazaki gives him a wry grin. "Yeah, so I've heard...Funny how that works, huh?"

Pip nodded, taking a seat with the assumption that it would be alright.

"Something happen to cause this amazing increase in hunger?"

"You're scared of the cafeteria?"

"I don't think I've actually eaten here since the beginning of school. I think someone ate something with tentacles, so I've been cautious," she explains, but she still doesn't feel any extra arms.

"Oh, just about five hours of very intensive flight," Sakurazaki explains with a sigh, not even really bothering to take into mind that she should be realizing that not nearly as many people knew about the wings as she thought did. "A fifteen minute swoop around camp would leave me hungry for day; I'm a little worried to see how long this one's going to last..."

"Ah." He nods and continues eating. "You'd look hot with tentacles. Just saying. If that happened and all."

Aeryn feels the back of her neck. "Am I growing tentacles?" she asks, putting the sandwich down.

"No!" He shakes his head and laughs. "No, you're not. No tentacles. Just your normal self."

"Don't scare me like that," she says, obviously relieved.

John ends up laughing hysterically at her fear and then relief at the mention of tentacles.

Aeryn responds by rolling her eyes at him.
