Callisto did not look happy as she waited for the the class finish coming into the clearing.

"First things first. Those stories you've been hearing on the rado about shoe stealing? True." She held up a large box. "At the start of each class you will take off your shoes and put them in this box. You will get them back at the end of class, if I believe that you have paid sufficient attention in class. Otherwise I get to keep them for the week. After you've done that I want you to introduce yourself to the class and say why you decided to take this workshop."

"Since this is the first class, I'd thought I'd start with something fairly simple. Fandom is filled with many unique and interesting animals, from the ducks and giant squid, to the dancing lemers and weetiny bunnies, to the minature giraffes and shy, retiring teal deer, to John Crichton. Some of these are harmless, others dangerous, still more tasty. Which is why, when lost in the wilderness, it's important to know what animals might be in your near vicinity. One of the best ways to do this is through tracking, the basics of which I will be teaching you today."

Callisto went on to give a very interesting and informative talk on tracking. It might even have drawn the attention of a few teal deer.

"Your assignment today is to split into pairs and identify which Fandom animal made the set of tracks I've assigned you.

"Good luck. You're going to need it."

She doesn't exactly look in the mood to listen to you though.

She's given you all your shoes back. Be best not to question it as it'll likely never happen again.

Yes, it's a rehash of last session's lesson, but at least that means there aren't any nasty surprises.

This week.

Tyler signs in and hands over his sneakers and socks. He barely grumbles at all.

Tyler half-listened, but was mostly watching the dear approach.

They were very bright blue.

Having heard plenty about the shoe thing from Parker, Anders signed in and turned over his socks and rather grubby old sneakers without any protest.

Tyler kneeled by the tracks, puzzled. He had no idea what kind of animal they represented.

Anders actually paid attention to the lecture. Any thoughts regarding the teal deer in the area were just vague speculations about whether or not they glowed in the dark.

"What the frak?" muttered Anders, peering so closely at the tracks that he'd better not sneeze or he'd ruin them. "I don't think that thing even walks."

Considering whom she was taught most of her skills by, Gwynn finds nothing odd about the request for shoes and turns over her boots.

Gwynn is very interested in what is being said.

Gwynn stared at the tracks for a very long time, trying to puzzle things out in her mind.

Considering his one experience with this class last session, giving up just his shoes didn't seem like that big a deal to Dean.

Besides, he'd worn his most old and beat up bear of sneakers just in case.

Bridge is... already barefoot. So signs in, but he doesn't have anything to turn in.

Callisto raised one eyebrow when she saw Bridge's barefeet and snickered underbreath. "Shirt," she said.

Walter, still looking as though he'd been in a fistfight with someone seven feet tall and looking as though he might have had another, more recent fight with Jose Cuervo, signed in and turned over a pair of black running shoes. Yes, he listens to the radio, too.

Dean looked at their assigned tracks and grinned up at Peter. "Considering we're leaving tracks that look awfully similar to this, I'd say it's a safe bet we've got human -- or as close as -- here."

Walter, thanks to training, experience, and years of working for Arthur Hellsing, appeared quite attentive.
