Veronica had ~~handwavy~~ sent an email and hung some signs so students would know to meet in the Journalism classroom. She had a spread of bagels and muffins from J,GOB along with plenty of coffee and tea.

"Welcome to Photography," she said once everyone had arrived. "Help yourself to coffee and baked goods," she added as she began passing out a Basics of Photography handout along with a syllabus.

"For those of you that don't know me, I'm Veronica Mars. You can call me Veronica. I'm a recent graduate of Fandom High, but I've been an amateur photographer for a long time. So you know, the rest of our workshops could get a little messy with developing photos, so please don't wear good clothes."

She smiled. "Today's going to be an easy day. We're going to go over the syllabus and the basics of photography. I'd like to start by having you all introduce yourselves and tell me why you signed up for this workshop. Additionally, if you have your own non-digital camera that you'd like to use, please let me make sure it's appropriate. If you don't have a camera, you can borrow one from the school."

Okay - so -

1. My availability today -- I think I'm being dragged to a work-related dinner in Baltimore after work. This means I'll likely be offline from 4ish EST until possibly 9 or 10 EST. I don't know details yet, but I may be slow catching replies. I'm more than willing to slow play into tomorrow if need be.

2. I forgot to talk to

emo_padawan about when is convenient for both of us to do the DC trip. More info forthcoming.

3. I'm hoping to do another arrangement with

stargazer_ellie for the Night Photography session that will allow you guys to attend the Astronomy workshop, but, again, in my slackitude, I forgot to check.

4. Finally - I took exactly one photography class in college (like 7 years ago) and thus all technical stuff is so very handwaved!

*can't bug V so bugs you instead*

"I'm Marty Blank and I took this workshop because it's a good chance to hang out with my friends. And you know. Learn stuff."

Marty holds up his small spy camera that would fit into a pocket and be used to photograph documents in low level light. "Somehow I don't think this is the kind of camera you were talking about."

Honey, you can bug me all you want if you're going to use half-nekkid Cam icons ;)

Marty looks confused. "Blue, Earth and Leaves? What? Am I supposed to take a picture of each?"

Veronica chuckled. "No, not quite," she said. "Here," she handed him a form to fill out and grabbed one of the school's 35mm cameras and a few rolls of film.

"That's the general idea, yeah," Veronica said. "Though I did have a few students rather, um, creatively, tie all the prompts together in one photo a few times," she added, thinking of Cam's pictures of Bel.

*flexes half-nekkid icons* They need a work out.

"You know that digital cameras have come a long way, Mars," Marty said as he filled out the paperwork. "Plus you can alter them in very cool ways if you have the right software."

"I'm Blair and I'm taking this class because I thought it would be fun."

"Ahhh," Marty says in comprehension. "Do I want to know what how those pictures turned out?"

"Veronica, I'm going to need to sign out a camera." Blair bounced excitedly. ~~"Something big with a long zoom, not that I'm compensating for anything."~~

"I'm Cally, and I totally signed up 'cause the teacher's cute," she said with a chuckle. "I've never done the photgraphy thing, so I figure I might as well give it a shot, erm, no pun intended."

"I'm Angela, and I'm in here because I think photography is a really interesting art form and I want to know more about it."

"Gonna need a camera," Cally said. "Oh, and since I've not seen you since you got back, a report on the weekend'd be nice, too."

"So I don't have a camera at all," Angela said. "And hi."

*joins in the bugging*

Veronica smirked. "That student has my undying gratitude," she replied.

"I'm Archie Kennedy, and I did not in any way sign up for this workshop because I thought the instructor would go easy on me."

"I'm well aware of that, Blank. I have a couple digital cameras and am highly skilled in photoshop," Veronica replied. "But there's something about developing your own photos that's really hard to explain. Plus it's easier to get artistic with a film camera."
