First Aid II, Tuesday Morning, Danger Shop

Elliot looks more comfortable teaching this time. She might also be trying to prove something to someone. Maybe.

"Hey people, welcome to First Aid II. It looks like a lot of you took my first class last term -- for which, thank you for working with me again and if you're thinking about med school, I'd love to talk to you -- so we're just going to do some quick introductions and then jump into simulated first aid situations.

My name is Elliot Reid, I'm a doctor. Normal human, from now, all of that. Boring, for this place.

One last thing, if you ever have any problems with anything you need to do in this class -- whether it's CPR practice or a rampaging CGI badger -- let me know. I, um, don't have a syllabus yet, but I'll email it to you within the week. And let's begin."

"Thank you," she says, but keeps it for a moment as she's sure the kid will only get stickier.

"I'm sure nothing's wrong," Hermione says, which just makes him cry harder. She tries not to whimper and barely manages it, trying to convince the kid that he's not injured. Because she thinks logic works on kids. After all, it worked on her.

The kid turned up the volume, and added some of those gasping breaths that all small children use to let you know they're being tortured.

Parker snagged the Disaster Child and seriously contemplated locking her in a closet. But she'd probably only drink Lysol or something. "No no no!" she called to another one across the room who was trying to climb up a bookcase.

Thump, bump, wail. The kid was holding her arm like it was broken.

"Fabulous."

Hermione sighs, looks around and finds a Band-Aid somewhere or other for the kid, and sticks it on his hand. Nowhere near the fingers. The kid stops crying.

"Uh oh," she says, seeing the one with the arm.

Parker grabs one of the triangle bandages from the stack near the fridge. "Too true. Hey, kid. Wiggle your-- yes, I know it hurts. I'm very sorry. But please, please, wiggle your fingers for Miss Parker, will you?" In the middle of the sobbing, the kid does. The bone isn't showing, but the lower forearm is definitely at an odd angle. "Whew. Want to help me splint this, Hermione?"

"Of course," she says, stepping forward to help splint it as people do. "I was prepared for badgers."

Parker tied the knot in the sling at the side of the kid's neck, and sighed. "I would prefer badgers. Or llamas. Or gremlins!" she yelled, as another kid started in. "They don't screech like this!"
