Baking Workshop 7/10, Monday Morning

Piper smiles at the students as they arrive. She kind of already fears for the home ec classroom. "Good morning everyone. I'm Piper, in case some of you don't already know that."

She points out a plate of brownies on the counter. "I usually make samples of the assignments I choose. Today is no exception. As you can see, you're going to bake brownies today."

She hands them each a list of ingredients and instructions. "I try to make the instructions as easy to follow as possible, but, if you ever have questions or need help with anything, please don't hesitate to ask."

"If we follow the directions, it shouldn't be too hard. Right?"

Alanna whimpered but put her butter in the microwave. It came out mostly melted, thought there was still a small lump in the center of the bowl. "This is okay, right?"

Molly poked it with a spoon and the lump quickly dissolved. "Looks good to me," she said.

"Bye bye lump." Alanna continued adding the ingridients until she reached the eggs. "Um...oops. The shells weren't supposed to go into that where they?"

"Um, no. That's bad," Molly said. "Are you able to pick them out?"

Alanna grabbed a fork and began fishing for egg shell bits. "I didn't even get to sign up for any workshops because of the whole stupid statue thing!"

"How did you end up with your workshops then?" Then Molly blinked. "Wait. statue thing?"

"No clue." Alanna palm-headed and got batter on her forehead. "Ugh. I turned into a statue three weeks ago. Stood in the clinic with a statue of a cat on my shoulder while various clinic personel decorated me."

Molly handed Alanna a napkin and pointed at her forehead. "Wow. I just thought you went on vacation or something. That kinda sucks. Do you remember being a statue?"

Alanna scoweled and wiped the extra dough off. "No, no vacation. And no remembering either. One minute, I'm getting a book. The next? I'm flying at Dr. Troy."

"And no clue what made you both turn into a statue?"

Re: Bake

Molly nodded before turning back to her instructions.

"Do you think we have to melt the butter again before covering the pan with it?"

"...Yes?" Alanna sounded as uncomfindent as one could get.

Molly shrugged and melted a little bit of butter. When she poured it into the bottom of the baking pan she didn't really bother to make sure it covered everything. She just left it in a puddle in the middle and dumped a handful of flour in after it. Which, of course, soaked up the puddle of butter so that when she dumped out the excess flour, most of the butter went with it. Molly poured in her batter and slid it into the oven which she had remembered to preheat.

She turned back to Alanna. "How's yours coming?"

Alanna's brownie mixture had unidentifiable lumps in it when she put the tray into the oven. "We'll find out when I burn them?"
