The all too familiar opening chords of Europe's The Final Countdown sounded and after a short delay for dramatic effect, GOB danced out onto the auditorium stage. He pulled blue and gold handkerchief chains out of both sleeves (which was difficult with a hand still in a cast) until the chains clearly met in the middle underneath his shirt. A large burst of smoke appeared on stage and when it cleared, the handkerchiefs had turned into two cages of doves. One of the doves fell over in the cage, choking on the smoke.

Over the next couple minutes he disappeared cards, linked and unlinked rings, and made his cast say "GO GREMLINS." It was slightly more impressive than should normally be expected from GOB.

When the music wound down, GOB stepped up to the microphone. "Welcome, ladies, gentlemen, and others. Today you will witness the finest example of amateur talent you have ever seen. Unless they suck. If they suck, you should make sure they know they suck. Not just today. Boo them this weekend, too. They'll deserve it for making me a liar."

"Anyway, let's hear it for today's acts!"

"Did you just encourage me to be a slacker?" Anders asked in mock-disbelief. Well. Sort of mock.

"Only about dying!" Willow said. "Oh, and getting sick or otherwise harmed."

"Which I guess is sort of a goal if you turn it around and look at it as staying healthy and alive," Anders mused. "And I'm all for that."

"Me too," Willow said. "Everybody needs to stay alive and not go anywhere."

Oh yeah -- Peter hadn't been in class yesterday. Anders bit his lip. "I totally agree on both points."

"Everybody keeps leaving," Willow said. "Peter, Ms. Calendar - they need to stop."

"Ms. Calendar left too?" Anders asked, surprised. He scowled. "Doctor Oliver's taking off for the rest of the summer, too. Okay, this is not cool. Something needs to be done about this."

"See? This is what I'm saying," Willow said, nodding her head firmly. "People need to stay right where they are. No leaving! We should get glue."

"And duct tape," Anders added. "Possibly rope just to be sure. And a big ol' sign out on the causeway."

"Close the causeway down!" Willow said. "We could overturn a tractor trailer. Only one carrying, like sand or something because we don't want to hurt the environment."

"That would suck. I never want to see, like, the sky orange and glowy, and the water all gross," Anders agreed. "So, we close down the causeway. Maybe we should do something about locker 327 too, then."

"Duct tape?" Willow suggested.

"It's not going to try and eat us if we get too close, is it?"

"I don't know," Willow admitted. "I've never gone near it. All I've heard are rumors which, the longer I'm in Fandom, I tend to believe are true."

"It's eaten students before," Anders said, "if I remember right. It usually spits them back out eventually, but sometimes there's trauma involved."

He tapped a finger against his lips. "I wonder if this is a sacrifice worth making for the greater good?"

"Maybe a sleep spell?" Willow suggested. "For the locker, I mean. Before we duct tape it."

"We might have to. It's not like we can shoot it with a tranq gun or anything, which would probably get us detention anyway."

"Do we know that it's evil though?" Willow asked. "I wouldn't want to zap it with a spell if it's just trying to feed itself and nobody's asked or offered a sandwich."

"Oh my Lords." Anders looked horrified. "What if we've been starving it all this time?"

"The poor little thing!" Willow said. "We should feed it cupcakes! Oh! And vitamin water."

"Maybe a small salad with chicken?" Anders suggested. "For the protein. Do lockers need protein?"

"Whole wheat bread too," Willow said. "Complex carbs are good for fiber, and for feeling full longer."

That sounded good, but Anders thought it could be a little bit better. "Whole wheat toast. With butter."

"Oo! And jelly!" Willow said.

"Strawberry? Grape? Orange marmalade? Or should we give it one of those little racks with a bunch of flavors to choose from?"
