The all too familiar opening chords of Europe's The Final Countdown sounded and after a short delay for dramatic effect, GOB danced out onto the auditorium stage. He pulled blue and gold handkerchief chains out of both sleeves (which was difficult with a hand still in a cast) until the chains clearly met in the middle underneath his shirt. A large burst of smoke appeared on stage and when it cleared, the handkerchiefs had turned into two cages of doves. One of the doves fell over in the cage, choking on the smoke.

Over the next couple minutes he disappeared cards, linked and unlinked rings, and made his cast say "GO GREMLINS." It was slightly more impressive than should normally be expected from GOB.

When the music wound down, GOB stepped up to the microphone. "Welcome, ladies, gentlemen, and others. Today you will witness the finest example of amateur talent you have ever seen. Unless they suck. If they suck, you should make sure they know they suck. Not just today. Boo them this weekend, too. They'll deserve it for making me a liar."

"Anyway, let's hear it for today's acts!"

"See?" Willow said. "We're on the right track. Now all I need to do is convince Peter to beware of hampsters with a penchant for magic and carpentry."

"And a thirst for blood," Bel said solemnly.

"I wonder if suits of armor have strong neck pieces?" Willow mused.

"There are generally neck guards, yeah," Bel said. "Gotta protect the vulnerable spots. Why, you think the hamsters are vampires?"

"No, probably not vampires," Willow said. "They couldn't get in without an invitation then. So Peter's safe from vampire hampsters at least. Unless he forgets to wear his suit of armor when he's outdoors."

"He's a smart kid, I'm sure he will," Bel said. "After all, he's pretty young to be a knight, so he must've learned fast."

"He saved his family," Willow said, a little proudly. "That's how he became a knight."

"See!" Bel said. "He knows how to take care of himself, there's proof right there. No hamster, vampiric or otherwise, can defeat him."

"Bet you'd need a toothpick to stake a vampire that small," Willow said.

"Or a well-placed fireball should still do the trick," Bel said. He paused thoughtfully. "Could you kill a real vampire with a toothpick? Nah, too flimsy."

"You've gotta stab real hard," Willow agreed, miming the motion. "I don't know how Buffy manages to do it night after night. I guess that's why she's got Slayer strength."

Bel gave Willow an odd look at her hand gesture. "Never gone up against her before, so I don't know her strength personally," he said. "Though she did threaten to kick my ass when I was trying to desoul Angel. The first Buffy that was here, I mean. Not the one that's here now."

Willow blinked. "You were trying to have sex with Angel?"

Bel gaped at Willow. "No!" he said, almost flailing. "I was trying other ways, really!"

Great. Now he had sex with Angel in his head.

Willow wasn't temporarly lost on how pretty that mental image was. No, really. Put that thought right out of your head.

Bel may have been blushing madly. "I never even thought of doing it that way," he said quickly, maybe too quickly. "I tried spells instead. Like the love spell."

"Ahhh," Willow said, getting it. "Yeah, those always go wrong."

Bel nodded. "Learned my lesson. The spell made him fall in love with everyone in the school except who I wanted him to."

"Still," Willow said, "that's better for Fandom and all its goldfish."

"Yeah," Bel said. "Fortunately I figured that out in time. I realized it was better to have Angel around than Angelus, and I even realized I liked Angel. I mean, we have so much in common."

Willow smiled. "I can see that. Though you seem to be less broody."

"I have my moments," Bel said with a grin, "but he's the master."

And again with the unwanted imagery.

"He told me he's had a lot of practice," Willow said. "I bet that helps."

"I bet he has," Bel said under his breath, a little distracted.

Willow tucked her feet up under her. "He seemed happy when he was with Buffy. Well, we know he was happy when he was with Buffy but you know what I mean. Less-broody in an acceptable, non-homicidal fashion."
