The all too familiar opening chords of Europe's The Final Countdown sounded and after a short delay for dramatic effect, GOB danced out onto the auditorium stage. He pulled blue and gold handkerchief chains out of both sleeves (which was difficult with a hand still in a cast) until the chains clearly met in the middle underneath his shirt. A large burst of smoke appeared on stage and when it cleared, the handkerchiefs had turned into two cages of doves. One of the doves fell over in the cage, choking on the smoke.

Over the next couple minutes he disappeared cards, linked and unlinked rings, and made his cast say "GO GREMLINS." It was slightly more impressive than should normally be expected from GOB.

When the music wound down, GOB stepped up to the microphone. "Welcome, ladies, gentlemen, and others. Today you will witness the finest example of amateur talent you have ever seen. Unless they suck. If they suck, you should make sure they know they suck. Not just today. Boo them this weekend, too. They'll deserve it for making me a liar."

"Anyway, let's hear it for today's acts!"

Willow decided to leave it there, since she understood what happened when talking about boys made you blush so much that you felt like you were going to spontaneously combust.

And after talking to Conner (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomhigh/930256.html?thread=47174864#t47174864), Marie found Willow again, her expression clearly panicked.

"I need to talk to you!" she whispered urgently.

Willow reached to take Marie by the hand, looking worried. "What's wrong?"

Marie leaned close so only Willow would hear her.

"I have a date with Conner tomorrow."

This statement was delivered in a tone that made it sound more like an order for execution than a happy occasion.

Willow cared not for tone. She squealed happily and went to give Marie a hug.

Marie clung tightly to her roommate.

"I don't know what to do!" she wailed quietly.

"We will handle it!" Willow promised her, bouncing in her excitement for Marie. "There shall be roommate girly time and Conner won't know what hit him! Unless he does anything to make you unhappy at which point what's going to hit him is my fist."

"I shouldn't have said yes," Marie worried, biting her lip.

"Are you kidding? He's cute!" Willow replied. "Plus nice. This is very good first date material, honest!"

"That's the problem! He's cute and nice and all I end up doing is blushing and losing my ability to speak in complete sentences," Marie exclaimed.

"Unfortunately this is part of the territory," Willow admitted, having been there herself... and still residing there, actually. "But! With the right guy? He'll actually like that. And if not I'll kick him on the shin."

"So you think it'll be okay?"

"I'm sure it will!" Willow said. "No doubts at all! Honest!"

Marie managed a small smile, there though may still be a slightly terrified look in her eyes.

"Okay," she said.

[and now I flee work, yay!]

Willow went to hug her again.

Marie hugged back.

"You're the best roommate ever."

"I try," Willow said with a grin.
