Talent Show, Fandom High Auditorium, Friday Afternoon, 07.07.06

The all too familiar opening chords of Europe's The Final Countdown sounded and after a short delay for dramatic effect, GOB danced out onto the auditorium stage. He pulled blue and gold handkerchief chains out of both sleeves (which was difficult with a hand still in a cast) until the chains clearly met in the middle underneath his shirt. A large burst of smoke appeared on stage and when it cleared, the handkerchiefs had turned into two cages of doves. One of the doves fell over in the cage, choking on the smoke.

Over the next couple minutes he disappeared cards, linked and unlinked rings, and made his cast say "GO GREMLINS." It was slightly more impressive than should normally be expected from GOB.

When the music wound down, GOB stepped up to the microphone. "Welcome, ladies, gentlemen, and others. Today you will witness the finest example of amateur talent you have ever seen. Unless they suck. If they suck, you should make sure they know they suck. Not just today. Boo them this weekend, too. They'll deserve it for making me a liar."

"Anyway, let's hear it for today's acts!"

[OOC: Wait for OCD is up. Performers, please post in the thread named after you. Mod the Caritas Zombie Band at will. Audience, please stick to the Audience threads. And please don't react until the performer has performed. Everyone can post in the Talk to the Talent thread at the end.]

The word "spleen" really seemed to be coming up a lot the past couple days. Peter clapped, happy that this was an improvement over Joxer's mildly disturbing song.

"At least she didn't sing," Willow muttered.

Aeryn really doesn't know anything about acting, but Cordelia didn't fall down and she didn't hurt Aeryn's ears, so yay.

Chloe applauded. That was much better than the singing.

Okay, that was sad. But hey, the dignity counts for something. Parker claps, glad it's not her up there.

Kaylee applauded. That wasn't so bad.

"Way to go, Chase!" Anders yelled, applauding.

Hey, it wasn't like he knew Shakespeare. It sounded good to him.

"Hey," Conner said, leaning over. "She's hot." Yeah, so he was boggling over the spleen thing. So what?

Anders sighed and smacked him in the back of the head.

Tyler understood maybe one line in five, but Cordy looked good doing it. He applauded.

Xander applauds enthusiastically, because, well. There's no way it could be worse than 'O Unhappy Oedipus...'

He leans over to Bridge, though, and whispers, "The talents show with the togas? She was in it voluntarily. She sang The Greatest Love of All."

Bridge snickers. "No kidding? That's kinda... wow, I'm trying to picture that, and it's just not working."

"See, picturing it is fine. It was listening to it that made grown men weep." Xander shrugs. "Not that we were any better."

"Ooh," Bridge nods. "Remind me to not be in Caritas on a night when she decides to get up on stage, then."

"She could've got better?" Xander says doubtfully. "But yeah. Not that I wouldn't be reminding you to stay out of Caritas when I'm on stage too, except for the part where soooooo never gonna happen."

"Why not?" Bridge says, the wheels already turning.

"Because there is no combination of alcohol, zombies, me singing, a stage, and people with ears, that could in any way be a good thing?"

Bridge crosses his arms and looks at Xander. "You owe me," he points out.

Xander's eyes widen. "Nuh-uh! Not appearing-in-public-on-a-stage level owe. You just had to be naked where nobody could see you!"

Re: Audience: Cordelia Chase

[identity profile] bridge-carson.livejournal.com 2006-07-07 10:05 pm (UTC)(link)
"Okay, fine," Bridge says, after a moment. "Sing on the radio- naked. Or sing in public- with clothes." He leans back in his seat, arms still crossed.

Xander stares at him in something almost like real shock. In a way, possibly even admiration. "That's.... mean! I didn't think you could do mean."

It's not really, of course, not the breaking-the-rules kind of mean. He's pretty sure Bridge actually can't do that kind.

Tim didn't get it, but he thought she'd done quite well. and depending on when this Cordy's from, she might actually have done so

He applauded more than merely politely.
