Callisto stood at the front of the class, giving no sign that she might have been up all night doing things in the wood. "Good morning class," she said. "Great news, today you get to keep your shoes. Well, some of you at least."

After giving a brief, yet highly informative, lecture on snares and pit traps, Callisto, pointed to a group of maps and several piles of rope.

"One of the more important parts of trapping is the placement, so those of you with shoes, take a map and go scout out the area to try and find suitable areas to lay snares. While they're doing that the rest of you will work on snare making."

"Just a bit?" Alec stood up, groaning slightly.

"But kind of a genius," she pointed out, eyeing the rope.

Alec glanced up at it, annoyed. "Maybe. Sort of."

"I fell down a pit," Buffy informed him, pointing at the tear in her shirt. "Did she say anything about pits? I don't remember pits, just snares."

"She said to go out and look for good places to set traps," Alec said dryly. "The fact that there are some out here already is the kicker."

Buffy glanced over at him, eyebrows high. "Don't tell me you're shocked and surprised?"

"Oh yeah, shocked at pre-set traps from the person who made us strip to give us proper clothes-making motivation," Alec snorted.

Buffy grinned. "So... how's your sense of direction? Because I think this map isn't exactly right."

Alec smirked and jerked a thumb over his shoulder. "I ditched my map a while ago. Back there's the school, unless you want to skip and go to the beach at this point."

"It's not exactly beach weather. School that way you say?" Buffy started walking.

He shrugged and fell in beside her. "Yep."

"So I guess you have a really good reason for not showing up at cheer practice, huh?"

Alec hmmed and looked really thoughtful. Whether he was actually going to answer might be up for debate.

Buffy kicked at Alec's knee to make him answer. "Hey!"

Alec fell back a little in order to avoid it, grinning suddenly. "Hey now, now need for that." He smiled winningly at Buffy. "I've just been to every practice so far... I decided to take a break."

Buffy narrowed her eyes, but she had to admit that skipping one practice might not be that bad. "Well... Okay, but you have to come on Saturday," she said firmly. She kicked a rock, aiming towards a suspicious looking shrub.

"Okay," he agreed, shrugging. "If you insist."

"I really, really do." Buffy nodded. "So what are you doing later today?"

"Sex ed this afternoon, don't know what after that," he said, glancing at her. "Why, what's up?"

Buffy shrugged. "Nothing. Want to do something?" She glanced over at him. "And not that."

Alec grinned. "Tease. Sure though - any ideas?"
