Callisto stood at the front of the class, giving no sign that she might have been up all night doing things in the wood. "Good morning class," she said. "Great news, today you get to keep your shoes. Well, some of you at least."

After giving a brief, yet highly informative, lecture on snares and pit traps, Callisto, pointed to a group of maps and several piles of rope.

"One of the more important parts of trapping is the placement, so those of you with shoes, take a map and go scout out the area to try and find suitable areas to lay snares. While they're doing that the rest of you will work on snare making."

Buffy might see something glinting in the middle distance. Over there, near that tree.

"Oooh, shiny thing!" said Buffy and trotted off to investigate.

Oh, noes! Some evil litterbug has left a chocolate bar wrapper in that pile of leaves!

Buffy is shocked - shocked! - by that kind of evil littering. What if some poor teal deer came and ate it? She leans down and picks up the wrapper.

Strange...there was a string attached to the wrapper.

Before Buffy had a chance to ponder the meaning of this, the ground under her feet started shifting...

"Eeeeeek!" said Buffy.

Congratulations, you have discovered a pit trap.

Buffy? Does not feel very lucky.

She stands at the bottom of the pit and glares upwards. "This is not even a snare!"

If the pit could talk it would point out that Callisto covered it in class as well, but alas, it is just a pit and cannot speak.

Buffy would probably not listen anyway. She brushes some dirt off her shoulders, croched down and leapt up reaching out for the edge of it. She missed and fell down at the bottom again.

"Crap," said Buffy, and tried again.

On the fifth attempt, she managed to cling to the endge and drag herself up. "I don't know whether to admire her or kill her," she muttered darkly when she spotted the tear in her shirt.
