The labcoats were by the door and Abby was fairly bouncing up at the front of the computer lab. "Did you guys ever have free swim in elementary school? It was usually when there was some free time or when the teacher was bored and everyone just got to go play in the pool for an hour."

"Today is Internet Free Swim. You guys get to spend time having fun and seeing what the internet has to offer in entertainment. I'm going to point some cool things that I like, but feel free to find your own treasures and show them off to the class. Well, most things you can show off to the class." Abby said with a wink and outlined the four main categories.

"First we've got intellectual fun. Things you read like comics, fanfiction, satire, blogs, and snarky reviews. Secondly we move onto clicky fun. Games, soundboards, puzzles, webquests. There's nothing like doing nothing, so for our third category we've got videos, clips, music, radio, tv shows and cartoons. Finally..." Abby grinned and leaned across the table, "We've got porn. It comes in all shapes and sizes, from vanilla to hard core and there's something for everyone. Even clowns."

She walked around and passed out large red drink cups. "Okay, so go ahead! Swim away and enjoy your Caf-Pow. No internet surfing party is complete without large doses of caffeine and sugar."

John starts playinh meowing cats juuuuust loud enough for Ranma to hear.

Ranma shudders and twitches with each fresh meow. He glares at John. "You're horrible you know that..."

"Yes. It's what keeps me going before my morning coffee." He switches to badgerbadgerbadger.

Ranma's much too nice to exploit John's robot weakness. He remains silent.

John starts exercising his arms likebadgers do.

Ranma raises and eye. What's with that wierd dance he's doing? "Gotta pee or something?"

"What in the world...?" Confused.

As he sipped at his Caf-Pow, Conner perused an article (http://sports.yahoo.com/sow/news;_ylt=Ar9njs7mwOCD8P5vk4VGg3smw7YF?slug=ap-wcup-spain-france&prov=ap&type=lgns) about France's 3-1 World Cup win over Spain to advance to the quarterfinals.

"Huh," he said out loud. "Wasn't really expecting that."

"I'm sure there's been a lot of stuff you've not been expecting, lately," Cally said.

Conner nearly dropped his Caf-Pow onto his keyboard. He'd almost forgotten Cally was in this class with him, and . . . oh boy. Blowing out a deep breath, he turned and gave her an incredibly awkward, halfhearted smile.

"Cally. Hi."

Cally smiled back.

"I think you left something in the HQ," she said.

"I left what where?" Conner asked.

He really did drop his Caf-Pow this time (though luckily on his foot) when he put that statement together with the fact that he hadn't been able to find his favorite pair of boxers.

"Oh. Crap."

Red really was his favorite color. Just not on his face, so much.

"I'm happy for you two," Cally said. "Though really, who wouldn't be?"

Conner facepalmed. "Me, actually. And I'm not thinking he's all that thrilled either."

And because he was Conner and had to ask these things, he added, "But, um. Did all the girls really think that was hot?"

"Most," Cally said. "Me, I was just sort of surprised. About you. Not Anders."

"I was just trying to cheer him up!" Conner said, flailing a little bit. "I wasn't expecting to, you know, cheer him up."

He paused. "Wait a second, you figured him for . . . being into that?"

"Did you miss the whole radio broadcast where Archie read his literary works?" Cally raised an eyebrow.

Conner fidgeted. "Well, no. I heard that. I thought it was a joke, though."

"Ha. Nope," Cally said. "So, how come you're into that?"

"I'm not," Conner answered after a moment. "But there was alcohol, and he was miserable, and I didn't know what else to do. I wasn't expecting things to end up like that!"

He scowled. "Seriously, can't girls appreciate me without me having to kiss other guys?"

"See, it's all in how you present yourself," Cally said. "Now, I'm personally moving away from the brown-haired jock with sexual urge repression issues type. But I'm sure there's a girl here for you. You know, if you want to keep lying to yourself."

"I'm not lying to myself," Conner snapped. "People do stupid things sometimes when they're drunk, and even stupider things when they're drunk and hurting. If I was lying to myself I'd be telling you that I don't mind being a substitute, okay?"

And wow, that was more than he was planning to say.
