Archery Workshop #6, 6/27, Danger Shop, Afternoon

As the students enter the Danger Shop, they will find that it is set up very differently from previous sessions. However, the set-up, a rough-looking part of an old town, may seem familiar to some of the students. The scenery is entirely in black and white, as are the students themselves. Ain't technology grand?

Miho stands next to a blackboard, looking alert and almost...cheerful. Unlike in previous sessions, she has a quiver of arrows at her back and a strung bow in hand. The blackboard says, ARM YOURSELVES. The students will find that their bows are standard, but the arrows in their quivers have been modified with spongey tips soaked in red ink. Also available are white cover-alls to protect clothing, should the students so choose. Once everyone is armed and/or dressed, Miho flips the blackboard over.

DODGING AND SITUATIONAL AWARENESS
1. Get to the other end of the street without getting hit anywhere vital.
2. If you get hit somewhere vital, you are Out.
2a. I am optimistically pretending you know what constitutes 'vital.'
3. If you are not trying to the best of your ability, you are fair game for the teacher.
3a. Actually, you are fair game for the teacher no matter what.
4. If you get to the other end of the street, there are brownies.
5. Yes, your targets are one another.
6. You may pick up and use spent arrows to replenish your ammunition.
7. Good luck.

By the time the students finish reading this list, Miho will have vanished to her preferred vantage point on the roof.

Mental flailing was a really good option right now. Conner took it.

"When you say 'into him,' what exactly do you mean?"

He hadn't tuned in to the radio for a couple of days, but no way had that made the broadcast. Right?

Bel shrugged. "I heard about you two. Congratulations." He wondered if this was why Cally and Anders had broken up.

"What? No! No! No congratulating!" Conner blurted out. Waving his hands looked particularly undignified when holding a bow, unfortunately. "That was an accident!"

"Accident?" Bel repeated. "Oh, sorry. I misunderstood. I thought you and he were together."

It was kind of fun to see someone other than him flailing for once, he had to admit.

"No way," Conner said in the sort of voice that tended to come across as "protesting too much." "There is no togetherness."

Bel raised an eyebrow. "Dude, it's okay if you were, which you're not, as you say." His tone was clearly doubtful.

Conner shrugged. No point in denying his end of things if word had gotten out. "Well, you know, drunken stupidness is one thing. Anything else would be a really bad idea right now."

Not that he meant to imply it might be a good idea later.

Bel nodded thoughtfully. "Ah, drunken stupidness," he said sympathetically. "Been there, done that. But hey, might work out for things later, you never know."

And somehow, the notion of later made Conner flail again. "Well, I know the girls around here seem to think that sort of thing is hot," he said. "Think it'd score me any dates?"

"An audience, definitely," Bel said. "Dates, I don't know. They may not want to break you two up."

"There's nothing to break up!" Conner exclaimed. "Well, what a gyp. I'd really rather get dates out of this whole thing."

He paused. "From girls."
