Archery Workshop #6, 6/27, Danger Shop, Afternoon

As the students enter the Danger Shop, they will find that it is set up very differently from previous sessions. However, the set-up, a rough-looking part of an old town, may seem familiar to some of the students. The scenery is entirely in black and white, as are the students themselves. Ain't technology grand?

Miho stands next to a blackboard, looking alert and almost...cheerful. Unlike in previous sessions, she has a quiver of arrows at her back and a strung bow in hand. The blackboard says, ARM YOURSELVES. The students will find that their bows are standard, but the arrows in their quivers have been modified with spongey tips soaked in red ink. Also available are white cover-alls to protect clothing, should the students so choose. Once everyone is armed and/or dressed, Miho flips the blackboard over.

DODGING AND SITUATIONAL AWARENESS
1. Get to the other end of the street without getting hit anywhere vital.
2. If you get hit somewhere vital, you are Out.
2a. I am optimistically pretending you know what constitutes 'vital.'
3. If you are not trying to the best of your ability, you are fair game for the teacher.
3a. Actually, you are fair game for the teacher no matter what.
4. If you get to the other end of the street, there are brownies.
5. Yes, your targets are one another.
6. You may pick up and use spent arrows to replenish your ammunition.
7. Good luck.

By the time the students finish reading this list, Miho will have vanished to her preferred vantage point on the roof.

"Cheater!" Parker shot at arrow at him, just for that, even knowing he'd probably be gone before it got there.

That one time she managed to land a punch on him? Is a very happy memory at the moment.

Bel winked and shimmered out of the way, letting the arrow strike the wall behind where he had stood. "Hey, best of our abilities, she said," he protested.

Parker gave him a sour look, but didn't waste another arrow. Maybe if she kept him talking, Miho would get him. "Pont. Although I'd love to see what happens if you're ever blocked from shimmering, or just too tired." She ran forward a few yards, and ducked down behind a car. "And you're still not gonna get me!"

Bel made a face. "I'd go nuts if I couldn't shimmer," he said. He readied his bow and aimed toward Parker's position, waiting to see if she'd leave her cover.

Parker snickered at his expression ~~and that icon~~ and popped up for a second to shoot at someone else. Then ran across the street, keeping herself low as she ran, trying to present a small profile.

Bel tracked her as she ran, then let loose an arrow in her path.

Parker stumbled, and almost fell backwards on her butt trying to avoid the arrow., but managed to avoid getting hit by bare inches. "Brat!"

Bel snickered. "Nice reflexes," he called out to her.

Parker could hear him from her vantage point, but not see him. She crawled over behind a bunch of discarded crates, and yelled back, "Thanks!" She glanced nervously upward, and then popped up over the boxes, sighted down the street, and shot an arrow in his direction.

At least it would keep him a little busy while she ran to the next dumpster.

Unable to help himself, Bel shimmered in front of the dumpster, trying to get in Parker's path. "Boo," he said, drawing back his bowstring to fire at her.

Boy, he was getting cocky. Probably would be easy for someone to nail him in the back. Just sayin'.

After hitting Conner (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomhigh/916113.html?thread=46179217#t46179217), Isabel spotted another likely target. She drew back on the bow and let loose an arrow at Bel's back.

Bel was cocky, but he wasn't completely without self preservation. He heard the hum of the arrow coming at his back. He didn't have enough time to shimmer out of the way, but he dove for the ground. The arrow struck the back of his left shoulder as he moved. Ouch.

Isabel grinned. "It's called cover for a reason!"

Bel grumbled and took a shot at Isabel.

If Bel can shimmer then alien-fu is definitely allowed. Isabel waved her hand and sent the arrow flying off in another direction.

"Try it again!" she called with a grin. "I'll see if I can send it back at you!"

"Talk about cheating," Bel accused. He fired another arrow at Isabel, then another in rapid succession.

"I'm just using all of my skills to the best of my ability," Isabel said. Of course she should have concentrated more and talked less. She was able to use her powers to grab the first arrow and send it back towards Bel, but the second arrow got her in the shoulder.

Bel was ready for one or both of the arrows to come flying back at him and shimmered out of the way. "Gotcha," he said proudly when his own arrow hit Isabel.

"We'll call it even," Isabel grinned. "Remember there's some of my paint on you as well."

"Paint, what paint?" Bel said, trying to wipe the red ink from his shoulder. Then he looked down at his hand and froze.

"Bel? You're leaving yourself open as a target if you keep standing like that," Isabel said with a laugh. Then she frowned, something didn't seem right. "Are you okay?"

Claire appeared in front of Bel and looked at his hands.

"It's too bright," she said.

"Go away!" Bel snapped.

Isabel darted up the street and stood next to Bel, possibly using him for cover. "What's wrong?" she asked.
