Wilderness Survival - Week 5 | Thursday Morning, A Clearing in the Woods

Once again, Callisto had the second lockbox out. "Clothes and shoes, children. And before you start complaining, if you don't give me your clothes now, you'll have to wear them the entire class, and trust me, you won't enjoy that."

Once she'd collected clothing from those willing to give it up, she gestured to a set of spears and hand woven nets. "If you'll take either a net or a spear, then follow me?"

Callisto led the class though the preserve down to the beach, then into the water. Where she proceeded to give a lecture on basic fishing techniques.

"Now spend the rest of the class trying out spear, net and bare hand techniques, but those of you with spears, please be careful of your fellow students, as we don't want to have any accidents that might attract sharks."

"Also remember that you are expected to clean and cook anything you catch yourself. Waste no, want not."

You can keep your clothes, but really the fact she's willing to let you should be a warning sign.

Parker surrenders her shoes and socks, figuring that she can handle whatever's coming up, but no, she's not risking her shoes when Callisto looks like that.

Alphonse gives up his shoes, as well as clothes. At least it's not as hesitant as last time, nor is the surprise really there. And he figures it's probably best not to doubt Callisto.

Everyone is at least hip deep in water, bet some of you are wishing you gave Callisto your clothes right about now.

Parker was torn between imagining scenario (1): wearing only wet underwear, in this case, sheer silk-- so not a good idea, but getting her clothes back at the end of class wihthout having to dryclean them. And scenario (2), that she was living: wet clothes-- mostly the slacks-- but no exposure.

She glared at Call through the whole lecture.

Aeryn's listening attentively. Look, she's appreciative enough of the fact that she's going to be in water for the whole class and the heat isn't bad enough to send her twitching yet. She's going to be good now.

This? Was almost too damn easy. It was like the early days of his training all over again. Alphonse went with the spear and carefully picked out the right fish to catch.

He's seen this enough on television, but he's not kidding himself and really isn't expecting to catch anything. It won't stop him from trying, though.

Aeryn could probably do this fairly easily, as this is the kind of thing she had to do in her own training, if not exactly the same. Still, Aeryn's taking her time.

Joxer's method was to repeatedly dive under the water and attempt to catch fish with his bare hands.

He wasn't so good at it.

If you actually catch anything, also the only time this class Callisto will let you out of the water.

For added fun, you also have to make the fire yourself.
