There are drinks set out on a folding table near the unlit campfire, and a couple of baskets filled with apples, oranges, and bananas, because sometimes you have to balance out all the doughnuts/twinkies/s'mores, after all. There's also a cardboard box at each end of the table, as yet unopened. Xander is standing in front of the table handing out cups.

"You'll probably each want something to drink, because I'm gonna make you talk, and some of you might be the type to get dry throats when you do this kind of talking.

Last week we looked at one specific job someone might have on a team; this time, we'll go with a skill that can be useful for anybody when you're trying to support your fellow Scooby-types -- or your flashy superpowered leader, if you have one. I figure we'll probably switch back and forth between those two things each week for most of the workshop, and look at putting them together towards the end.

So what skill comes in really handy when you're trying to investigate a crime, stop the bad guys, rescue the princess or otherwise save the day for goodness, justice, puppies, and truth?

The ability to lie your ass off.

I know that sounds kind of contradicty, like 'jumbo shrimp' or 'bad pie,' and some of you guys may not be down with bending the truth until it squeaks, but the fact is that sometimes you' might have to, at least for a while. You may need to cover for your friend with the secret identity, or your entire group that just cut class to go slay ~~vampires~~ dragons, or yourself, if you're in the wrong place at the wrong time. And hey, maybe you'll get lucky enough not to need it -- but it's a skill you should have, just in case."

Cordelia thought for a moment before speaking.
"Okay. 1. I haven't slept in my cabin since we moved down here.
2. I missed half of last semester due to home dimension obligations.
3. I've been kidnapped by vampires."

"I'm thinking... one?" D ventured.

"Right you are," Cordy said, a little disappointed with her lack of lying skills.

"Sorry, it's just that both of the last options are entirely possible here." D tried to explain things. "I played this game once or twice first term you see. The things that seem most normal, are the ones that stick out."

"I probably also suck at lying," Cordy said with a shrug. "Could be why I never broke it big into the acting world."

Nadia didn't remember seeing Cordelia around much last semester, so she was willing to bet two might be true. And kidnapped by vampires sounded pretty run of the mill for this town. "Um, I'm guessing one?"

"You got it," Cordy said.

"What's being kidnapped by vampires like?"

"It really sucks," Cordy said bitterly. "They knock you unconscious, chain you up and pretty much toy with you until they're ready to kill you. If you're lucky someone busts in and saves your ass."

Yeah, Nadia could relate to that. "Ah."

Well, that one girl had a vampire dog, and home dimensions seemed a common problem here, so Z said, "One?"

"Yep," Cordy said. She was totally losing at this game.

"Hey, I think I'm getting kind of good at this!"

"One," Bridge says, not even really needing to think about it. After all, he'd been *there* when she'd dropped back in. And the vampire thing, well- she came from a dimension similar to Xander's.

"Right you are," Cordy said. "Unfortunately. Stupid cabins."

"Wow... that's tough. Um... one?"

Poor dumb rational empiricalist Zack. "Three?"

"Ha!" Cordy proclaimed triumphantly. "I finally stumped one! Nope, that's totally true."

Well it had been a couple of days since his brain had last broken. "Of course. Two?"

"Also true!" Cordy said, grinning happily.

Zack whimpered. "One then?"

"Lovely deduction work," Cordy said with a grin.
