There are drinks set out on a folding table near the unlit campfire, and a couple of baskets filled with apples, oranges, and bananas, because sometimes you have to balance out all the doughnuts/twinkies/s'mores, after all. There's also a cardboard box at each end of the table, as yet unopened. Xander is standing in front of the table handing out cups.

"You'll probably each want something to drink, because I'm gonna make you talk, and some of you might be the type to get dry throats when you do this kind of talking.

Last week we looked at one specific job someone might have on a team; this time, we'll go with a skill that can be useful for anybody when you're trying to support your fellow Scooby-types -- or your flashy superpowered leader, if you have one. I figure we'll probably switch back and forth between those two things each week for most of the workshop, and look at putting them together towards the end.

So what skill comes in really handy when you're trying to investigate a crime, stop the bad guys, rescue the princess or otherwise save the day for goodness, justice, puppies, and truth?

The ability to lie your ass off.

I know that sounds kind of contradicty, like 'jumbo shrimp' or 'bad pie,' and some of you guys may not be down with bending the truth until it squeaks, but the fact is that sometimes you' might have to, at least for a while. You may need to cover for your friend with the secret identity, or your entire group that just cut class to go slay ~~vampires~~ dragons, or yourself, if you're in the wrong place at the wrong time. And hey, maybe you'll get lucky enough not to need it -- but it's a skill you should have, just in case."

"No..." Bridge says, looking at Nadia oddly.

"I've taken some Latin. My first language is almost directly Latin based. So a dog named Sirius?" She shook her head. "You come from a land of puns?"

"No, the planet is Sirius. His name is Anubis. Cruger."

"Dog. From a planet called Sirius. Did they at least name the planet after they found out it had dog-people on it?"

"I think was their own name for the planet? Like, it's not like humans went out exploring and found it." Bridge says, scratching his head. "Not that it really matters anymore, of course."

Nadia frowned. "The dog-people knew Latin?"

"Nooo," Bridge says. "Sirian. But it translates to "Sirius", I guess. If that makes sense."

"Soooo the Earth people decided that the dog-people's planet name translated to 'Sirius'. You are from the land of puns!"

"No, the Sirians *told* us it translated to 'Sirius'."

"So the dog-people do know Latin."

"Or possibly Eltaran."

"The Eltarans know Latin?" Nadia was getting very confused. "So, wait, which statement was a lie, then?"

"No, I think their language is kind of *similar* to Latin. It's possible that's where we *got* Latin, I'm not exactly sure," Bridge shrugs. "And the first one. I didn't go to the beach during the day."

"Did you go at night?"

"Yep!" Bridge grins.

Nadia grinned back. "Nicely done."

"Thanks!" Bridge replies brightly.
