Writing Workshop - 6/20 - Journalism Classroom - Tuesday Morning
As everyone came into the classroom, Chloe was looking through the books that she'd pulled from the library for today's class, and giggling madly. Should that be taken as a foreboding sign? Quite possibly, yes.
"Okay folks," Chloe said when everyone had settled, "when I was putting together the syllabus for this class, I thought long and hard about whether or not I wanted to include poetry. It isn't exactly my favorite style of written expression, but I realized that some of you might enjoy it, or at least get a kick out of it. And once I discovered that there were actually going to be boys here, I knew it had to stay," she added, with a smirk.
Chloe passed outthe requisite Wiki link a simple handout on the different styles of poetry. "What I'd like for you to do today is to write a love poem. It doesn't have to be anything long or epic, and it doesn't even have to rhyme," she explained, glancing momentarily at Janet. "I fully expect to get poems of silly love because hi, I have met all of you. But feel free to write something sincere if you wish."
[Posted early because I can make no guarantees about my availability today - my brother is graduating from high school (*sniff!*) so I'm not going to be around for interaction until sometime in the evening.]

Stickbugs are mighty
Stickbugs rule
Sometimes they're flighty
Sometimes they're cruel
But none of them stink like the Meerkats do
"No, it wasn't," Cameron said with a frown but Kawalsky was already reading so it was too late to offer a trade. Looked like he was just going to read Kawalsky's stuff too.
Re: Talk Amongst Yourselves (6/20)
Unfortunately, Kawalsky's was much less impressive. And kinda romantic. He may have stolen stuff from Shakespeare and messed it up.
How do I compare thee to a summer's day?
Summer is hot and so are you
But not the bad hot that melts glue
Your hair is pretty, your eyes are wide
If I said I never noticed, I have lied.
Being around you makes my heart beat
Faster than if I ran down the street,
I wish I could tell you how I feel
But if you beat me up, I doubt I will heal.
O unwavering temptress! And all that stuff
I'll be your friend, but it won't be enough.
And if I die before I wake, I know that
Juliet is the east and Romeo is the west
Or something.
Re: Talk Amongst Yourselves (6/20)
I never thought I'd see the day
Where life goes its own new way
Many went before but they all failed
Then you came and you prevailed
The first one was scary
And made us all wary
The second was royal
and made us all loyal
Then came one that saw too much
We were glad to escape his cluth
The next was spacy and a doof
Good thing he never went on the roof
But you are fair and a true amazon
We played catch in the virtual sun
I never had so much fun
It left me all undone
I hope to never disappoint you again
It's an honour to live under your reign

Aww. Touching moment as the macho men bond over love poetry. It might even bring a tear to someone's eye.
