Student Art Fair, Friday afternoon, Dorms Front Lawn

Since it was set to be a nice day, the Art Fair was laid out on the front lawn of the dorms.

When people entered, they were greeted with a selection of tissue paper flowers in colorful - mainly blue - vases. Beyond that, there was a number of displays from the various participating classes.

The Student Art Fair was open.

[OOC: Students with projects should start a subthread under their class for their project containing a description or link to a picture of their project. GOB's students should just get in place and perform for however long they want to. They are free to come and go.

Conversations in general areas should go under the General Conversation subthreads. Confusing, yes? Actual viewing and commenting on the different projects should go under the student's subthreads.

Have fun and enjoy the art! I'm turning notifications off but you can ping me in the OOC thread or via e-mail if you need to catch my attention.]

Tim nodded. "True true. So are all these stories tied into each other or are they each their own world?"

"Ummm...." Her inspiration sort of fizzles right then, and she shrugs, looking a bit sheepish. "I don't know; it's really all just from me reading too many Edo era romance novels..." Yup, definately blushing at having to admit that.

"Okay ignorant American question. Edo era?"

She grins. "Also known as the Tokugawa period. It's sort of the classic age of Japan, when all the samurai were at their peak, all the factions across the nation were relatively at peace, and..." with a mocking glare "Western forces were beginning to infiltrate the culture."

"Hey you got your revenge." Tim said. "All best stuff is made in Japan. So that's when all the samurai and ninja movies take place?"

Her mouth gapes for a moment as she draws in a deep breath, Buddha-wisdom finger propped in the air, preparing a rather long blurb regarding the first situation, but she's had a busy week. She doesn't have the energy right now. Her hand drops. She could probably go on about that for days.

"Yeah, most of them, anyway. Kind of like how all the movies about knights take place in the Middle Ages. Although the Edo era was a few hundred years later and a lot less dark."

"The Middle ages were actually after the Dark Ages I think." Tim said.

"Oh. Whoops."

Hey, she didn't even get very good marks in Japanese history, much less the European stuff.

"No biggie, that's kinda the extent of my knowledge of European history. Something I've definatley gonna have to change 'cause most of the fae I deal with are European."

One of her eyes slides shut thoughtfully. "I should probably do the same; increasingly, the magicians I've been having to deal with practise Western magic, which is actually pretty different from Eastern. Although, really, I'm not exactly on the job when I'm over here, but you never know..."

"You deal with Magicians?" tim said. "In what capacity? Sounds like not exactly getting along?"

"Well, I shouldn't talk about it too much," she says, lowering her voice to a whisper and leaning forward slightly, "but I work for the Kansai Magic Association in Japan. We've been at a sort of underground war with another magic association for quite some time now, but we've been getting help from the Western magicians. I keep having a feeling that me coming here was a bit more than just getting me out to experience other things, but nothing's surfaced yet. But I have trouble thinking that they'd just remove me out of the picture like that. Things were just heating up when I left..."

"Oh," tim said, also lowering his voice to a clandestine volume. "So I was wrong about the not getting along bit. There's certainly enough western magic around here. My wand was made in a European other-realm place."

She smiles, stealthily. "Definately wrong about the not getting along bit. My best friend is quite possibly one of the gre--" She cut herself off. What was she doing? It wasn't that she didn't trust Tim, but...if she were sent here for a reason, going around talking about Ojou-sama's power probably wasn't the best way to approach things. "Well, she's a magician herself, anyway," she covers herself lamely. "I should probably get to know the magicians around here better; I tend to mingle more with the warrior types." She allows another grin.

"I think some of them are even both." Tim said. "My wand got fused with my father's sword so i guess that counts me at least. If you take Nature Magic next term that might help you out in that area."
