Student Art Fair, Friday afternoon, Dorms Front Lawn

Since it was set to be a nice day, the Art Fair was laid out on the front lawn of the dorms.

When people entered, they were greeted with a selection of tissue paper flowers in colorful - mainly blue - vases. Beyond that, there was a number of displays from the various participating classes.

The Student Art Fair was open.

[OOC: Students with projects should start a subthread under their class for their project containing a description or link to a picture of their project. GOB's students should just get in place and perform for however long they want to. They are free to come and go.

Conversations in general areas should go under the General Conversation subthreads. Confusing, yes? Actual viewing and commenting on the different projects should go under the student's subthreads.

Have fun and enjoy the art! I'm turning notifications off but you can ping me in the OOC thread or via e-mail if you need to catch my attention.]

Willow smiled. "Thanks, Tim. I'm not much of an artist, but sometimes I doodle."

"This seems kinda deliberate to be a doodle." Tim said. "Are you just doing the modesty thing?"

"The computer does most of the work with making things look like they're supposed to," Willow said. "If I tried drawing any of that on my own without a compass or a ruler I'd be totally lost. And presenting a picture called Fun With Squiggles."

Tim snickered. "I bet a lot of artwork these days is made with computers." he said.

"You can do so much!" Willow said, her geekiness showing. "This is very uncomplicated because Abby said we had to use MS Paint and, well, I was sort of in a rush because I was cheating. But these days you can make entire movies on computer."

Tim blinked. "For real? wow. I'm still in the early days of such things, 1991. The hellions I babysit for still think that by now we'll be living on the moon and flying in rocket cars."

"Oh! You still have all the wonders of the internet to discover," Willow said. "I'm from 1999. There was a bit of an adjustment but there was enough similar that I could get the hang of things."

"I've tried the internet a bit in leadership." Tim said. "It seems to mostly be for porn." why you think the net was born? Porn porn porn!

"I tried looking up orienteering and topographical maps and somehow wound up with...well fortunatley the pop ups covered anything explicit but it was a bit of a shock."

"Tell me about it," Willow said, sympathetically. "Well, I mean not really because it's naughty and probably not for polite company, but I mean I know where you're coming from because with the stuff I research? You don't even want to know the kinds of web pages that turn up."

"What kind of stuff do you research?"

Re: Student Art: Computers & Fun

[identity profile] willbedone.livejournal.com 2006-06-17 02:03 am (UTC)(link)
"Depends on what's going on but usually magicy stuff," Willow said. "Demons, vampires, that kind of a thing. You don't want to see the websites that a Net Nanny wouldn't approve of when you're using those for your keywords."

Tim grimaced. "Eeesh. I haven't had to deal with those fortunately. Lord Palamon, he's the grand high poobah of the Fae back home, says the hole that let them back into my world is too small for the monsters to fit through."

"See, that would be useful," Willow said. "When the Master got stuck on the hellmouth unfortunately that didn't keep everybody else from wandering on on. Some even took the bus."

"Hellmouth. Ms. Calendar mentioned that I think. Is that like literal? And what was the Master? Demon of some kind I'm guessing? The pretentious kind?"

Re: Student Art: Computers & Fun

[identity profile] willbedone.livejournal.com 2006-06-17 03:07 am (UTC)(link)
"Totally pretentious kind," Willow agreed. "He was this vampire who was all into trying to kill all humans and take over the world. Buffy thinks he was just bitter because he was so ugly."

Re: Student Art: Computers & Fun

[identity profile] grand-fallguy.livejournal.com 2006-06-17 08:33 pm (UTC)(link)
"That could be it. wouldn't killing all humans be kind of a stupid thing for a Vampire to do? What would they eat?"
