Piper smiled at the students as they arrive. It might have been a nervous smile. She pointed out today's assignment. "We're making snickerdoodles today. Chocolate ones even because chocolate makes everything better."

"Oh, and the first one of you to ask me if they're made of people gets detention," she continued, wondering if she could really abuse her power like that.

She hands the students a list of ingredients and instructions. "As usual, I'm around if you have questions or need help with anything."

"Try not to burn the classroom down," Piper added, remembering what happened last week.

Measuring Spoons

Baking Sheets

Spatula

Ingredients

2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

1 1/2 cup sugar

1/2 cup butter, softened

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 eggs

2 cups flour

3/4 cup cocoa

1 teaspoon cream of tartar

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon salt

2 tablespoons sugar

Instructions

Preheat oven to 400F

Combine sugar, butter, vanilla and eggs.

Mix well.

Stir in cocoa, cream of tartar, baking soda and salt.

Blend well.

Shape dough into 1 inch balls.

Combine 2 tablespoons sugar and 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon.

Roll dough in sugar/cinnamon mixture and place 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheets.

Bake 8 to 10 minutes, or until set.

Immediately remove from cookie sheets.

Jude was in a good mood this morning. Which led to a little spinning of bowls before he set them down, a little cheerful twist of the wrist as he turned on the oven, a little bounce in his step as he measured out the butter and set it on the heating oven to soften.

"Well, aren't you in a good mood," Pip said as he cracked his eggs. "Anything interesting happen?"

Jude shrugged, still grinning. "Not particularly. Life is good right about now, bro. Just enjoyin' the moment."

Pip nodded. "Good reason to be happy. Specially when cookies are involved."

"It's always a good day when cookies are involved," Jude nodded mellowly, juggling his eggs for a moment before doing the one-handed crack.

Pip raised an eyebrow. Juggling eggs? "So life is just good?" he asked. "Because I'm starting to wonder if life is, in fact, more than merely good?"

"Could be."

Another egg started at one wrist and rolled along the line of Jude's shoulders to the other hand before it, too, ended up in the bowl.

If Pip's eyebrow could raise any higher, he would tear his forehead.

"So, any particular reason life is so much better than good?"

"Setsuna," Jude replied, satisfied. "She kissed me on the cheek and we snuggled. Hence, good mood. There were some frogs involved at some point, too."

Pip grinned and gave Jude a thumbs up. "A sucessful evening ineed. Good work."

"Thanks, bro." Jude flashed a thumbs up right back. "I'm just hopin' Ranma doesn't try to punch me again or anything, 'cause that? Would totally harsh my mellow."

"What? Ranma tried to punch you? What happened?"

"Setsuna punched him first, a while ago, and I dunno 'cause they were both yelling in Japanese." He blinked, a bewildered look slipping into place. "That happens a lot, actually. He keeps doing this stalking off thing and then there's more yelling."

"Huh. That sounds weird. Have you asked her about it?"

"Yeah, I have, but she was really angry at the time and I don't really want her to be angry, so I just kinda chill. If she wants to tell me what's up she will." He smiled. "I'm just happy whenever she's with me, you know?"
