Arden glared at the gremlins who were having a hilarious time. Today she'd come in to find: googly eyes stuck everywhere; all the office equipment vacuum-sealed, especially anything with an edge; not only were books moved around but they were also put back backwards, their pages showing instead of their spines; Vaseline had been smeared on various door handles, and all the clocks had been changed to random times.

"I hate this day and I hate you," she muttered, trying to force open the vacuum-sealed scissors so she could get the pens free.

Just wait until she sees the computers have all had their languages swapped to Cyrillic

The weather was nice enough that Cal had brought iced drinks from the Perk, and as he took a look around the library, he wished he'd gotten some pastries too, or stronger drinks. "I thought the point of pranks was that everyone got to laugh at them," he said. "Is there anything I can help tackle?"

Arden took her iced tea from Cal with a face of someone juuuuuust brought down from the edge of committing acts that would be classified as felonies in most countries. "Do you have anything that I can use to cut this open?" she asked, holding a pair of scissors in an undeniably threatening way. "Because I'm on my last gotdamned nerve."

On the plus side (for Cal anyway), when she got angry, her drawl got stronger. And she was very angry.

Cal reached for the scissors gingerly and handed them back to BD-1, who already had his multitool out to get to snipping. "It's okay, we'll get it all fixed," he said. "And if any gremlin tries to get near you, they'll have to deal with me."

There was maybe a little extra threat in his voice at that in case any gremlins were listening.

"Still haven't forgiven 'em for biting me the other week," Arden huffed. "What is it about gremlins deciding I need to be a bride?!"

Was that how that worked? She didn't know. But she was definitely happy to say it was right now.

It was definitely the fault of the gremlins and not anything else!

"I'd say it's because you're so pretty, but I don't want to think about the gremlins thinking that," Cal said with a scowl. BD-1 passed the opened scissors back to him and he handed them--handles first--back to Arden. "Do you want me to set the books right? The funny eyes can probably stay for a while, maybe they'll make someone laugh."

"My heroes," Arden said, kissing D-1 on his head and leaning over to give Cal a kiss as well. "I would love you forever and ever and always if you would." She began to cut open the pens and pencils, then paused. "Thoooough...you could stay with me for a few more minutes and we can go set things right together?"

And maybe sneak a few more kisses in the stacks, shh.

"I mean, you are the one in charge here. As long as I'm spending time with you, I'm doing what I came here for," Cal said, sneaking another kiss. "I was hoping you'd get to have a relaxing shift."

"Is it just me, or does it feel like something is always happening on Wednesdays?" Arden complained.

...Though with a lot less heat than she might have, because, mmmm...Cal kisses.

Cal was very sympathetic. These were sympathy kisses, all for her!

"Strange things are only supposed to happen on weekends," he said agreeably. "That's what I've learned, at least."

Sympathy kisses were very important, especially for exasperated sylphs. Everyone knew that.

"Well...some of them last an entire week." And, you know. Were probably coming up soon, considering that spring was upon them.
