Things to Do at the Beach #3, Galactica Point, Friday Morning

Jarod waited for the class to arrive under a makeshift tent. Next to him were plastic shovels and pails. And a large group of kittens that had gotten curious about what he was doing and had decided to sit in. One or two were in the pails, either playing or curled up and sleeping.

"Good morning, everyone. Unfortunately, because of Fandom's...eccentricities," he looked at the kittens, then the pudding, which occasionally glopped from the sky, "I don't feel safe sending you out on the water today. But that's not all that you can do at the beach," he continued, "Today you'll be making sand castles--but they don't need to look like castles, if you feel like being more free form about it. There are also frisbees and a volleyball, if you want to play with those instead."

"But he looks so cute with you," Isabel smiled. "I had kitten therapy and Greg was there for a while. It helped. A lot."

"Oh yeah, he's very cute. You should see the holes in my shoulder," Jack grumbled, but he reached up and scritched the kitten behind the ears. "And how goes it with Greg of the magic hair? You still having fun? He's still treating you right?"

"It goes well," Isabel smiled. "We're having fun and he's treating me wonderfully. I really like him."

Jack couldn't help but smile at that. "I'm happy for you, Isabel. I'm a bit sad for me," he added, putting an arm around her, "but as long as you promise to keep me in mind if it doesn't work out, I'll probably recover."

"I would bore you very quickly, I'm sure," Isabel said leaning into his side. "I like this instead."

"You wouldn't bore me." Jack kissed her cheek and leaned over to whisper in her ear. "Don't tell anyone? And I mean anyone, ever. But I like it, too."

"My lips our sealed," she promised as she wrapped her arms around him and gave him a hug.

"My reputation is in your hands," Jack said, folding his other arm around her. "So it couldn't be safer."

"Be careful," she grinned as she sat back, keeping one arm around him. "I might have to tell everyone what a softie you are."

"You wouldn't do that," he said, giving her a squeeze. "Besides, it'd be misleading. There's only a few people who get the softie treatment. Everyone else is fair game."

"Me, Parker, and Cedric?" she asked curiously. "And feel free to tell me to mind my own business if you'd like."

"I"ve told you before, you can ask me anything," he replied. "You and Parker, yes." He stopped, blinking a bit in surprise. "Cedric?"

"I don't know," Isabel shrugged. "You guys just seemed cute together yesterday."

Jack didn't say anything in response, but he stared at the ground, frowning thoughtfully.

"Huh." Looking slightly surprised, he lifted his head. "Yeah, I guess Cedric's on that list as well," he said slowly. "Which is really pretty strange." He laughed, more at himself than anything else. "That one you definitely keep to yourself, all right?"
