Things to Do at the Beach #3, Galactica Point, Friday Morning

Jarod waited for the class to arrive under a makeshift tent. Next to him were plastic shovels and pails. And a large group of kittens that had gotten curious about what he was doing and had decided to sit in. One or two were in the pails, either playing or curled up and sleeping.

"Good morning, everyone. Unfortunately, because of Fandom's...eccentricities," he looked at the kittens, then the pudding, which occasionally glopped from the sky, "I don't feel safe sending you out on the water today. But that's not all that you can do at the beach," he continued, "Today you'll be making sand castles--but they don't need to look like castles, if you feel like being more free form about it. There are also frisbees and a volleyball, if you want to play with those instead."

After her half-hearted attempt as sandcastle building, Isabel gave up and went to sit by Parker. "You doing okay?"

"Gah. Better. Not great." Parker rubbed her eyes. "Had another nightmare last night, but I'm not seeing things this morning. I'll take it as an even trade." She smiled tiredly at Isabel. "Are you okay? I know that couldn't have been fun for you, either."

"That's good," she nodded. "Not the nightmare part. But at least that it seems to have stopped for now." Idly Isabel reached down, picked up handful of sand and then let it run out between her fingers. "I'm okay. There were kittens in my room when we got back. So there was kitten therapy. Surprisingly enough? It helped."

"Yay kittens. I'm glad something made you feel better." Parker commented, just as two started to tussle with her sandals. "Oh, cut that out. Go hunt frogs, guys." She pulled her legs up, and one of the kittens made off with her sandal. Parker stared balefully after it, and then conversationally said, "I hate magic."

Isabel smiled as the kitten ran off. "At least he has good taste in shoes. Those were stylish." Hand still absently digging through the sand, she nodded. "I don't think I've had a good experience with it yet. Between the bouncing, and watching what you guys are going through now. Nope, not liking the magic that much."

Parker tried to think of a good experience with magic, and said, "The candy that made me float and twinkle was kind of fun. It wore off at the end of the afternoon. But that's all I can think of at the moment." She grumbled, glaring after the kitten, too tired to chase it. "The stuff you and Bridge can do is less muss less fuss and more simple. Better."

"It is isn't it? And the consequences aren't as dire." Isabel chuckled. "Actually I did have a good experience with magic. Yesterday morning. I just forgot with all the other stuff that's going on."

Parker covered a yawn with her mouth, widened her eyes, and said, "Sorry, still sleepy. But what did you do yesterday? Interested. Just tired."

"Parker, it's completly understandable. Did you even sleep last night?" Isabel asked. "I did, but not well. Still here's a better thing to dream about. What do you think I stumbled upon when I went to meet Jack and Cedric at the beach yesterday?"

"I had another nightmare. I think I got three or four hours of sleep total." She sighed, then looked interested. "Hmmm. I wonder. What, pray tell, did you stumble on?"

Isabel snickered. "If I had had a camera? I could have made a fortune selling the prints to Jaye, let's put it that way. But I did have a fun morning. Cedric and I were taking turns attacking each other with Nerf balls."

"Oh, you definitely had a better morning than I had, then. Anything with Nerf beats being force-marched by Callisto through pudding and field without shoes." Parker grinned. "A shame you didn't have your cameraphone with you. God, the pretty."

"There was Nerf, there was innuendo, there was much laughter. All in all? It was a lot of fun," Isabel admitted. "You should spend some time with the two of them. It's fun."
