Leadership and Outdoorsmanship, Preserve Clearing, Thursday Morning

There was a table in the clearing, on which compasses, two copies of an island map, two clue sheets, two control cards, and written directions were laying in the open. Nimitz sprawled across the back of the table and watched with interested amusement as the students arrived.

Leadership and Outdoorsmanship:

First, please make sure to sign in. Once you’ve done this, collect a compass and divide into your groups. Each group gets a map and a control card. Complete the course marked on the map, stopping at each control flag to scan your card. I will meet you – with breakfast – at the end of the course.

Use your minicomps, compasses, and other conventional means. And always keep "leave no trace" in mind.

Good luck!
Professor Harrington

At the bottom of the directions, the following groups were scribbled out:

Group 1
Liz Weir
Peter Parker
Pippi Longstocking
Tim Desmond
Ainsley Hayes
Bel/Cole Turner

Group 2
Alanna Trebond
Anders
Peter Pevensie
Sawyer Ford
Dean Winchester
Pip Bernadette

Island Map

White handwaved distance km
Start: Workshop Clearing

1 FH Professor Harrington’s Office
2 PT tree, middle in a cluster of three
3 PC clearing, NE corner
4 BR breakfast

Small, circular barcodes are next to each of the clues, to be read by the portable scanners left at the control flags.

[OOC: Okay, guys... This is another one with several threads I need to set up before you get going. I’m at work, so it might take me a few minutes. Please be patient, and I’ll modify this note when everything’s set. Apologies, too, for not getting it posted earlier. It’s been one frell of a morning...

OCD threads up! Have fun adventuring! ]

"What?" Anders glanced over at Peter, then looked down. "I totally didn't even notice. Um, do you think this will make that whole Leave No Trace thing kind of complicated if they tag along? I don't think this is their natural habitat."

He paused. "Do they have a natural habitat?"

"Apparently it's being latched to people's bodies like leeches." Sawyer said dryly as he glared down at the one that had it's claws dug deep into his skin. If he didn't have any morals what-so-ever, it would've been easy to hack the kitten off him.

Damn morals.

"I'd assume as long as we make sure we end up with as many as we started with, we should be fine?" Peter attempted to answer Anders' question. "It's not as if 'Leave No Trace' takes into account invasions of kittens."

Sawyer nods and shifts his position in the direction they're meant to be going, "We should head that way." Arm indicating the direction.

Anders fired up the GPS program on his minicomp. "Let's go then."

Peeling the cats claws out of his flesh with a light hiss, he placed it in his backpack and it mewed. "I hate clingy kittens." He sighed heavily, looking over at Anders and his nifty GPS program, "Good thinking." He was just used to the old compass. It worked just the same.
