Class had been told to meet in the Danger Shop, which was set to look like a normal classroom, albeit one lacking both teachers.

Then with a dramatic crash of thunder and lightning, Isabela appeared in the doorway. "It was a dark and stormy night," she intoned, equally dramatically.

Aphra, meanwhile, entered via the window with an even more dramatic shattering of glass. "Then the ninjas attacked."

"You're probably wondering how we got here," they said in unison, and if anyone suspected the majority of their class prep time had been spent practising this, they'd be right.

"Introductions are important," Isabela told the class.

Aphra followed up with "You only get one chance to make a first impression, well unless you go into some serious identity hijinks, but that's a different lesson."

"Today we'd like you to find your favourite opening line from this list-" Isabela produced several thick stacks of paper and started passing them around. "- and build an introduction to the rest of the class around them."

"'The city at night has a million stories'," Caleb chose, as it sounded like the opening to a pulp detective tale, "Not all of 'em pleasant, or interestin'. As Caleb Dooley, newly arrived from the wilds of Appalachia was soon to discover."

He hoped that's the sort of thing they were getting at.

Luma expected to be pouring over the list, chewing on her lower lip, and agonizing over finding the perfect one, but it had actually jumped out at her so quickly, she had to laugh.

"It’s a dark and stormy night," she read, sounding delighted, "ladies and gentlemen, just the perfect atmosphere for the Monsters’ Ball..."

And there she took it into her own hands...or claws.

"...and then werewolf would be making an appearance, thank you very much, because she hated to miss a party and she didn't fall into any of that silly moon nonsense. Luma Zarrin, redplendant in blood red silk and the finest lace had never looked better."

Feeling the drama of it all, she flashed a sharp, toothy grin.

"Or hungrier."

Don't worry, it was all fiction, she'd had a nice, big breakfast.
