Fandom Library, Wednesday, December 17th

How were they literally a week out from Christmas? Arden was not prepared. Arden was the opposite of prepared. And Arden wasn't about to get any more prepared during her shift today. Yes, the candles that had shown up today were very pretty and she loved how not flammable they seemed to be, but she didn't love how hard the gremlins were working to test that inflammability.

So yeah, her day was spent running around and keeping gremlins from trying to light the library, the books, the furniture, and themselves on fire.

"None of these things are the lights of Hanukkah, you jerks!" she seethed.

"Does it take a long time?" Gray, not allowed to do kitchen things, asked as he unpacked the bag of takeout.

Castor's on it now, which means it'll probably be from some hand-massaged beer-drinking Japanese steer, Raiden reported. It was hard to tell in text how he felt about that, but he followed it up with, Wouldn't hurt to explore all the options. If they ended up with two prime ribs the more the merrier.

"Five hours?" Gray asked, incredulous. "I could take like two naps by then!"

"I think," Gray corrected her, "you mean waffles." He did a 'ta-da' gesture toward the takeout containers. "Do you want hot cocoa, peppermint, or gingerbread?"

Tis the season for zero nutritional value, apparently.

"Nah," Gray assured her. "It's Christmas!" Whether that made hot cocoa waffles legal was an argument best left to lawyers. "Can't have Christmas without sugar. I'm sure it's in Luke or whatever." He was one of those guys, right?
