Fandom Library, Wednesday, November 12th

Huh. There were a bunch of music books out around the library. Arden found one for guitars, basses, drums, even keyboards. Books about music, books teaching people how to play the instruments, books about caring and maintaining them. Even books about cutting a demo and sending it around to record labels.

Arden wasn't sure if the gremlins were starting a band, or there was something else in the library that was thinking about it (possibly even the library itself?), but all afternoon she heard strains of music coming from different areas, sometimes just warmup exercises and chords, sometimes whole songs.

Couldn't find the musicians when she went looking for them, of course. But could definitely hear them.

"Hey!" she called at one point. "Seven Nation Army?"

A long moment of silence, and from over near the biographies section, the slow reverberations of a bass guitar. Bum bumbum bum bumbuuuuumbuuummm. Bum bum bumbum bum bumbumbuuummm...

Cal was always a little wary coming into the library, but the situation at least sounded good today as he came in. "I was just coming in for the company, I didn't know we'd be getting a concert too," he said.

Forgive him for his goofy dancing, Arden, there was a terrible lack of good bass players in galaxies far far away.

"Ardennnnnnn," Gray whined whined as he came into the library with two takeout containers. "They won't let me decorate Over Easy for Christmas! And it's already almost halfway through November!" This was surely discrimination of some sort.

Hey, his real facial hair would be better than the fake stuff, if he ever managed to get it to grow. Probably. Maybe.

"Yours too, getting to have something less strange happening in here," he said, kissing her back. "Is everything going okay so far?"

"But winter is cold," Gray whined. "Christmas is the only tolerable part of it. Science." He presented a takeout container to her with a flourish. "Apple pie waffles."

"Maybe," Gray allowed. "I could try." A beat. "And then Raiden might appear with a squirt bottle. Hey, where's the music coming from?"

"Is that something I should be worried about? Fairies with good musical skills luring people away to join their bands?" Cal said with a laugh. "With little tiny guitars and drums?"

Raiden would argue it wasn't winter yet, and that would technically be true, but it was already cold*, okay?

"Maybe the books are forming a band," Gray suggested.

*If you were named Erasmus Boone.

"What are the more horrifying possibilities?" Gray wondered. "Ghosts?"

"...does this happen a lot? Is this a here-thing or a your world-thing?" Not that Cal was suddenly worried or anything, that would be silly! "I mean, I've done the miles from home thing, and it worked out pretty well. And the not being able to leave part. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad."
