After yesterday's amazing animal act of fun, Nadia was quite pleased to come into the cafeteria with absolutely nothing fuzzy in tow. She created a stack of alternating pancakes and waffles, with scrambled eggs and bacon in between, doused them with maple syrup and hot sauce, and went to find a seat.

Spotting someone she didn't know yet, she figured she'd play the friendly student host or something. "Hi, can I join you?"

Tempe looked up from her really exciting waffles. "Sure, have a seat."

"I don't think I've met you before," Tempe said. "I'm Tempe."

"Nadia. You're one of the new students, right?"

"Right," Tempe replied. "I assume that you're an old one."

She paused. "Well, not old old, but old as in not new."

Nadia shrugged. "I've been here since January. So, I'm thinking by now, you've gotten all the cryptic warnings?"

"Maybe," Tempe replied. "But I wouldn't mind hearing a few more. Then I could piece them together with the ones I've already heard, and see if I can make any sense out of them."

She took a bite of her waffles.

Nadia shrugged and started cutting up her pancake/waffle sandwhich. "Okay, well first there's the gremlins, which I don't think have actually done anything since the school got exterminators in, but be careful anyway, since they bite. The school sometimes gets attacked by monsters, but everyone pitches in and we all get through okay."

She paused to take a bite of her food.

"The big one is vampires. Vampires are mean, nasty, horrible creatures that sometimes look like someone you trust and care about, but will only cause you horrible pain and get you yelled at by people. I don't think we have any around right now? But it's best to just be careful. Use silver, or crosses or holy water or something. Like, a blessed silver cross would probably work pretty well." Nadia decided she ought to get one of those.
