Arts & Crafts Workshop #3, Camp Dining Hall, 06.05.06, Afternoon

[OOC: Hey, I finally have a Workshop Info Post!]

"Okay, campers!" Tick said. "This week, we're going to be working on a project with glass that - if you want - you could submit to the Art Fair next week. We will be making faux stained glass today, and if you do it right, it can look downright keen!"

"You each have instruction sheets, a bottle of liquid lead to outline your image on the glass, paint brushes, and paint. Up here at the front table, you can pick up some cleaned and sanded glass and there's a lot of simple pictures from coloring books and clipart for you to use."

"Just remember, after applying the liquid lead, you should give it one to two hours to dry before applying paint. So once you get the liquid lead on there, you should move on to your scrapbooking."

"Speaking of which, last week, you started adding text to your scrapbooks. This week we'll be working on adding even more words, a thousand at a time! That's right, campers! This week we'll be using pictures! But these won't be pictures from magazines. You'll be taking these! After applying the liquid lead to your glass, come up here and take a disposable camera. There are 24 exposures. Try to take 24 pictures of anything you want, even if you have to get a picture of the grass or your hand."

"You can go ahead and wander around for up to two hours after applying your liquid lead. Return here with your cameras, get to work on your painting, and I'll have these developed for next week when you'll be working the pictures into your scrapbooks."

"Let's get to work!"

It's amazing. I was planning on having Sakurazaki go to town to get a disposable camera today. She's going to be so pleased. :D

Jaye's probably spending more time trying to get the accidental liquid lead spill off the table than she is actually using it. Just because the little table spot bugs her. Also, because she's differently motivated, let's face it.

Check it out, no giggle fit this week! Jaye takes a camera and looks thoughtful before raising her hand. "Mr. Professor Dean The Tick?" she asks. "Are you going to actually look at our scrapbooks not dirty?"

If you were to look over Jaye's shoulder, you might see that she's gone the simplistic route. The glass is mostly painted blue, though there seem to be white blocks in lines seemingly randomly in the middle of it.

Jaye shows hers off with a "Tah dah."

Flipping through the magazines and colouring books, there's a slight frown on Sakurazaki's face, as she finds absolutely nothing that appeals to her. Not yet. Maybe she just hasn't discovered the right thing yet. She keeps flipping, and kind of scowling at the pages. Where are all the samurai and ninja colouring books?

Sakurazaki uses lots of blues and greens and reds and blacks, but very little white. As little white as possible. But she's very good at painting, using delicate, very Japanese calligraphy style strokes. She likes the painting; it's relaxing, even if the unfinished pieces of glass are currently marked with random Japanese characters.

Sakurazaki offers him a bow at the end of class. "Congratulations, Tick-sensei, on your promotion."

Sakurazaki's is a slightly blockier version of this (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v719/skylie/bird.jpg), only the white flowers are all blue. She's really proud of it, even if the excessive use of a darkened yellow has her hands also slightly that colour.

Xander stopped by the dining hall slightly before the workshop was scheduled to begin. With a ferret on his shoulder. As you do.

"Hey, Dean the Tick. Congrats on the promotion. Can I talk to you for just a sec?"

Tempe picked up a medium-sized rectangular piece of glass and chose a picture out of an egyptian coloring book of some pyramids and a camel (http://touregypt.net/kids/color4.gif).

She began to outline the picture using the liquid lead. It wasn't perfect, but it still looked half-decent.

Tempe *handwavily* went out and took pictures of some places around school and town. She'd work on getting pictures of actual people at some other time.

Tempe set to work on painting her glass. She painted the pyramids a sandy-color, and the camel dark brown. When she was done, her picture was very colorful (http://touregypt.net/kids/Color4.jpg). And the camel may have had glittery feet. Because, yay, glitter!

Tempe's project is essentially this picture (http://touregypt.net/kids/Color4.jpg), but the camel has glittery feet (of course). She's very proud of it.

Tempe walked by Jaye on her way to get more paint. She looked at Jaye's project. "Hey, that's really pretty."
