Luau, The Main Campfire, Friday evening

The main campfire had been turned into a tropical paradise... without the tropics. There were leis and grass skirts to wear, tropical music playing, a buffet table, and the infamous Limbo Stick of Destiny, an artifact brought back to America from World War II. Noody knows what happens when a person wins a limbo competition involving the Limbo Stick of Destiny, but several experts on the subject suggest that "absolutely nothing happens except maybe you win a little trophy."

It was party time at the Fandom High Summer Camp.

[OOC: OCD is up. Yes, there is pig, poi, and sometimes the band will switch from generic tropical music to 60's beach movie music, or maybe reggae, or Raffi. They're unpredictable like that.

The luau takes place during a long break in the rain that fh_weather is reporting. Yes, I'm modding the weather. Admin privilege.]

Buffy unconsciously copied his motion, as she nodded. "Mostly, yeah, 'cause stakes can go anywhere with me. Knives tend to get confiscated." She looked wry for a moment. "And... I actually don't use guns. All it does is piss vampires off, anyway, and it's more of a danger of hitting innocents." She brightened. "I'm liking archery, though, now that we can finally shoot stuff."

"I think archery's going to be a lot more interesting once we get arrows with sharper tips." Sam grinned. "So does the whole silver bullet thing work on your vampires? I know all about weapon confiscation - that's why we tend to drive everywhere, and keep the weapons locked in the trunk."

Buffy shook her head. "Not as far as I know. Should work on werewolves, though, but I've never met one." She shifted a little closer. "Do you, like, drive everywhere? Do you have a house somewhere? Well, not you, but, like, your dad?"

Sam shifted closer in turn, casually moving his hand so that he was holding Buffy's hand and not just resting over it. "Yeah, we usually just drive. It's kind of hard to get the kinds of weapons we have on planes. And no, we don't really have a house. We move around too much. Sometimes we'll stay in one place for a few weeks or months if Dad's trying to find something good to go after, but never long enough to set real roots down."

A slight blush painted Buffy's face a nice rose as her hand was held. Sam was such a cutie. "So that's why you said that about Dean and you being, like, best friends?"

Sam noticed the blush happily, and nodded. "That's exactly why I said that. Dad's got some friends, other hunters he's met while we've traveled. And they're good people. But when it comes to people our own age, Dean and I only have each other, which has its upsides and downsides."

"I can imagine," Buffy nodded. She was silent for a moment, just enjoying being there, holding hands with a cute boy. Then her curiousity got the better of her again. "Are you from this year? Which is a total Fandom question, you know."

"That's definitely a Fandom question, yeah." Sam laughed. "No, Dean and I are from 1997. What about you?"

"Really? That's awesome!" Sam beamed. "I didn't think I'd meet anyone else from that year."

"Me neither! I've been feeling totally behind on, like, everything, and Veronica had to teach me about emails -" she pulled her new shiny phone out of her purse. "-and Alec helped me buy a new phone, because mine was huuuuge!"

"Wow, that is nice," Sam said, looking over the phone. "It's good to know Alec's good for something besides annoyance and kissing guys."

"Alec is nice," Buffy protested. Her lips twitched. "...Just kind of a manslut."

"You kissed Anakin!" Buffy pointed out, glancing quickly down at her purse which hid some very, very nice photos indeed. But she had promised Jaye...

"That was different. Anakin called me a chicken, and I knew if I didn't kiss him, Dean would probably do the same thing. But I'm pretty sure Alec enjoyed himself," Sam said matter of factly.

Buffy looked at him. "Boys are so weird." She thought this might not be the time to point out photographic evidence, but a strange sort of loyalty to Alec made her add, "Dean didn't look like he was in pain either. I mean, the thing with the leg..."

She trailed off, smiling a little.

"What thing with the leg?" Sam asked, quickly followed by a flailing look and, "Never mind, I don't want to know!"

"Oh, right, brother. Wow, that had to be weird." Buffy patted their joined hands. "Don't worry, I won't make you look at the photos. ...Oops."

"...you took pictures of them kissing?" Sam asked, unsure about whether to be horrified, or impressed by her quick thinking in bringing a camera.

"Maybe?" Buffy gave him a hopefully look. He didn't look mad. "I was doing my Photography assignment when Jaye invited me because she said I had to watch boykissy 'cause it was pretty and I really, really agree."

Sam just barely heard the end of Buffy's sentence, but it was enough to make him turn a little red. "Well you're really really crazy. It wasn't as pretty as the girl kissing," he said. "Kissing is always prettier when it involves a girl."

Buffy wrinkled her nose. "No, that was just weird because it didn't involve Eliza Dushku. I don't think I'd kiss a girl." She bumped into him a little, grinning. "Even if I was called chicken."

Sam resisted the urge to make a face at her and bumped into her back. "Okay, I'm going to let you in on a little guy secret. Being called a chicken? Is a big deal. Especially when the person doing it is shorter than you are and clearly has no right being so offensive," Sam explained.

"Again? Boys are weird." Buffy tilted her head at him. "...And I hate to be the one to tell you, but almost everyone are shorter than you. Huh. Does that mean you'd kiss anyone who called you chicken?"
